Hello Nick from Down Under!

We use a product called Roof Snot, and love it. The roofs come clean quicker and with less SH in the mix.

We get it from Russ Johnson of Southside Equipment in KY.

www.roofsnot.com the video on the site is Doug Rucker from Houston Tx spraying Roof Snot. He as well as many other swear by this stuff.

Russ would be the one to talk to about how to get it Down Under.. Maybe you can become his Australia Distributor!

Roof snot is great for house washing. Put a little lemon sent and wash away. Windows have been a non issue.

Guys shipping alone would bankrupt this guy... He is in Australia! Start with dish soap from the local store.. Then see if you can get ammonyx-lo from your chem. supplier..

If you research a bit you should be able to find a good local supplier for what you need, The Stepan CO actually has a couple surfactants you may want to try the Ammonyx SO Ammonyx Lo Ammonyx Lo SPecial and there is a ton more..

Thanks for the link to AM LO. manufactured here by Orica and will have no trouble chasing the line to get to a supplier that has it in manageable packaging.

Due you add your own fragrance to this and if so what do you use. Lemons and pine and Rain fresh and Cherry are all out there. Whats the best way to get it into solution on the softwash tank?

I have been using it for about a year now. It took some playing with as I finally got it to work with my system. Gary gave me a few buckets to help figure out the mix with 12V pumps. Gary uses an air pump so the mix is different and he also mixes one large tank for the day. He has also changed the formula and now has the gel in it's final state. The 5 gals. delivered is cut in half so you end up with 10 gals. The gel has worked well for me.

I got this from Gary to make sure I didn't mess things up.

"Our biogel is an extremely concentrated roof cleaning surfactant. It not only adds stick/dwell to your SH but we also incorporate about a dozen designer chemicals into our formulations that add to the cleaning power of SH. Bio Gel can also be used as a foaming agent the consistency of shaving cream if air is introduced during the application. Our product has long lasting organic algaecides mixed in that will give each cleaning a longevity other products don't offer." He also said, "they can call me at anytime with any questions about our products I'd love to hear from them."

In the hood cleaning I'm using a AFF for my surfactant and foam creation. It's basically what they make firefighting foam out of. It is stable with the sodium hydroxide, so I'm assuming it is stable or compatible with other alkalines like sodium hypo. Next time I have a casual day I'm going to try to "foam " a roof!

Wow Chris... you are really doing some research and finding some older posts!

Gary gave up on Bio-Gel. It worked great in batch mixing. We are using Arm & Hammer laundry detergent with an additive we get locally. We have an inexpensive mix that sticks and works well with the booster and 12v pumps.

You know,..I stumbled upon something this year that really seem to make a difference in roof cleaning. I've always liked to spray in the morning hours due to no Sun drying, and no wind. I never wanted to spray a damp roof,..but this year I sprayed several that were on the edge of being wet. The mix....when applied properly doesn't run off like you'd think,...and the mix seems to penetrate very well. I think it's due to the semi-damp roof already having the surface tension broke? Actually used less mix on those roofs.

I completely agree Jeff. The damp roof is just like pre wetting concrete for certain cleanings. We always try to schedule roof cleaning for mornings in hot weather. They go faster and seldom have call backs.

Yea Brett,..dampening concrete prior to chemical application definitely makes a difference. I actually do that with decks as well. I've been doing it on concrete and decks for a long time,..never really considered it for roofs until this year.

I noticed how much better the mix stayed when I sprayed a roof to cool it off. The mix pretty much stayed in the area sprayed with few fingers running. It just takes a little longer.
