This was a subject we spoke about this weekend in York, PA. Some will frown on what I'm going to say but you (we as a industry) need to exploit this to it's fullest potential. We are scheduled(no charge) to clean three local playgrounds for the township where I live. We have been in touch with our local state representative's office as well as our local senator's office about this. The township is going to publish it on their website and facebook page. Politicians as a whole love this stuff(even though they didn't do anything) to get their name out there.

I hate to say this out loud as well but......

The people that frown on the publicity just don't fully understand business - IMHO.

I mean I do things all the time and want no attention or praise but usually not in business. Lets say I see a cop getting ready to order a meal. Sometimes I just pay his tab and he never knows who did it. Then lets say I see a few cops out is the heat directing traffic after an accident.

Now the "Cajun Soft Wash" truck pulls over and starts handing out cool water from the back. I'll even say "Cajun Soft Wash has your back.

I agree with the free publicity, we have to earn a living....This is the trade/skill we are in to feed the family.

We provide a service free or reduced price with the understanding that when asked, our name will be freely given with an endorsment of our work.

I don't ask for any recognition per se but I do let them know we appreciate them letting folks know that we did the work we offer free estimes and are courteous and professional.

I love cleaning and small churches in lower income areas just hold a special place for me.
