Does anyone have any links to hard data showing how cleaning can prolong the life of paint and/or coatings on surfaces like synthetic stucco and Hardie board?

We are often called to clean heavily infested stucco and hardie surfaces where the owners have neglected anual cleaning.

Most of the time there is paint loss under the parssitic growth resulting in the need to re-paint.

There has to be some hard data out there showing how cleaning these porous surfaces extend the life of the paint or coatings.

Surely with regular cleaning the surface life can be extended for years before needing to be re-painted but I need data to share and educate prospective customers.

Thanks!

There was a study that I read that talked about this. I believe it was only on concrete. They did a weight analysis on concrete to see if the algae was deteriorating the concrete. they had a control as well. They proved the the algae and mold was slowly deteriorating the surfaces. I cant remember the source. It was at a very small scale but they still showed the affects. This is not exactly what you are looking for but I will try and find it for you.. I have been doing a lot of research lately.

Thank you! We all know that the parisitic effects of the oragnic growth but being able to show and not just tell works a lot better with the property managers.

Educating them is key to converting them to a cleaning plan rather than a re-paint, due to organic growth, plan...

Thanks again!
