New Technical Advisory Bulletin   A smaller document and some different wording. "Do not power wash the shingles to clean the shingles. Some roof cleaning companies of fer this service. However, it is not recommended as it may dislodge granules, which can lead to premature shingle failure."

Corrosion Of Aluminum Gutters And Flashings Caused By Copper Granule Used In Algae Resistant Shingles "Copper granules have been used by the roofing industry for some time to provide algae resistance and anecdotal experience indicates that corrosion of aluminum gutters can be magnified when the gutters do not drain properly."

Stain Guard Plus Time Release Technology In the fine print... "StainGuard Plus™ Time-Release technology and 25-year ltd. warranty against blue-green algae discoloration." It took some time to find the warranty that can be confusing to the home owner but it's the typical 10 AR warranty.

"All StainGuard Plus™ with Time Release-labeled shingles carry a 25-year limited warranty against algae discoloration and a Smart Choice® Protection Period of 10 years. All StainGuard®-labeled Shingles and Ridge Cap Shingles carry a 10-year limited warranty against algae discoloration."

25 years? But I bet you, you can’t buy stain guard plus in the algae belt. GAF playing the warranty game.

 I tried a Google search like yesterday when I found this and got the 404 from the search this morning. Maybe their site is down.

Thanks Brett. I will download the newer version. I basically state this to every client. In addition to power washers I advise again "shampooers" and any type of agitators.
