Phone calls dropped of considerably before the holiday weekend. This combined with all school districts opening on the week prior to and after the holiday weekend has caused us to slow down.

I'm typically slow with residential. Fortunately I just signed my biggest commercial job last night and I have two more booked So I'm pretty happy.

And if I didn't have to charge Florida rates, I'd only have to work three of thuse seasons!!!

Slow here also. It's been for awhile.
We have a couple new start ups in the area cleaning roofs for half the price that we have been getting.

Price's are droping around here also, Dam Internet price shoppers don't help either.

Here is my rant...Like Barry we have some newbies starting up. One doesn't even visit the site. He tells the customer he will do it for 15% less than any other written quote. That in itself is an ugly situation. Another is north of me advertising most roofs for $300.. We have another guy with a website showing him wide open throttle pressure washing a roof. There are at least three others riding around with big box trucks. They do pressure washing, lawn clean ups and grass cutting. Another guy states he will do exterior cleaning by the hour with $35.00 clearly listed.
Ok I'm finished and feel a little better.

My numbers are down from last year. Phones are a bit slower. But we got lean and cut out the dead wood in many areas of the business. When times are good I can still get the feeling like I should be doing something more or buying this or that. Sometimes the best move is to do nothing, ride the wave and just chillax. I still toss the calls I don't want. My phone sales skills are at their peak. Thank God I spent the last few years building up reviews to separate myself from the all the new low-ballers.

Phones have picked up in the last 3 or 4 days. I'm doing the same as ed and riding the wave and trimming some fat. Going to try and make a big finish for the end of the year. As a side note just watched wolf of Wallstreet and that movie was not only great but it did pump me up a little.
As far as competition, we have 2-4 companies on angieslist offering roof cleaning for 250.00. Up to 2000 Sq ft on any size home. I think I'm done with AngiesList. They allow these companies to put these low ball offers out there and depend strictly on up selling. Also we have well know companies just going around and pricing roof and house washes for less than 600.00. It's a shame what has happened to this market but it was bound to happen just wish it was later than sooner.

Phone calls have been strange since late July. Very sporadic and just not the same amount of them as I expected. We have been working fairly steady on residential, but the commercial work has been filling in to make the weeks better. Last week was not so great, but this week is packed and into next week as well. My commercial stuff has been the big offset the last two month, being able to fill out weeks when needed with high dollar stuff. Hoping to finish the year strong like everyone else, but I keep hearing about a Northeast snowstorm before Thanksgiving.
i am done complaining and trying to figure out why people charge what they do, and just going to focus on my business and what I do. No matter what we say or do people will charge what they charge and it always be sticking point. we have all taken jobs that we thought about afterwards and said....I think I took that too cheap! for whatever reasons...in the area, near another job, my sister knows them, I want to do more in that neighborhood, etc.... Just do what you do and he rest of the people will weed themselves out. They will com and go but we all need to remain a constant.

My rant(bitchin) must have been read by the exterior cleaning gods as the phone was ringing off the hook today. We finished a roof cleaning in Paupack, PA and all the estimates were on the way back. We are now booked through next Wednesday.
