I was on the East end of Long Island Tuesday and I was headed out of town at like 3:30 - 4:00.....as we are heading down sound ave which is heavy traffic, my guy see's an "Ugly roof Stain " sign. I double back so we can read it....now I have a pickup and trailer with company name all over it and its daylight. I pull up I see it's roof shampoo I'm like ok not another new guy...plus roof shampoo uses a surface cleaner. I go out to dinner with my family for kids birthday and my phone keeps ringing like 4 or 5 calls in a row......so when I get home i see a txt "call me about todays roof cleaning" I call the guys goes "did you have a truck out east today? " I go yeah....he replys "you stole my lawn sign, the Ho saw you get out of your van"....I'm like I have a pickup... now his friend joins in we called cops we know where you live.....{ I also know where they live } "I'm like I didn't take your sign, why would I? Long story short cursing and threats and I'm like your acting like this over a $3 sign. I said let's call the owner now on a 3 way call...he responds i'm not calling a H.O. at 8:15 pm....yeah that's pretty late...in other words the HO didn't say that. What is wrong with people today...first I don't steal...second I wouldn't steal with a truck and trailer with my name all over it in broad day light. They said I took the sign because I feel they are a threat to me....I was like wow these guys are really out there. I put signs out, if I get an hour in a spot it was worth the cost.

He's got it in his garage with all the other signs he stole from Art. It's behind the paint cabinet.

I posted a topic a few weeks ago about a similar situation. The owner of R**f Shamp** called accusing me of plucking his sign and replacing it with mine! I explained to him I did, which is the truth, and he was cool about it. We both think it was probably the beautification police.

If there on a pole then they are fair game. If in a yard then they stay. I don't like the pole signs.

No matter what you agree with or disagree with, we're all just out trying to make a living. Destroying or removing signs is theft. Why not just go steal their equipment as well,..that would also affect their business. If there's an ordinance against signs, let the local community board or whoever handle it.

We put out our Painting signs on current JOBSITES only, (not random places), but many municipalities do not allow them and the local officials will take them away. If they keep seeing them poping up they will contact you with fine threats.
BTW the ruff shampoop guy was in my area recently franchised by a co. pat and art know (I think, D.Wrong) with ONE guy standing on the ridgeline (a big no no) and no harness, ground guy leaning over the edge lowering down a surface cleaner by the high pressure hoseline only. If that thing blows the line hes flying off the roof!
even worse, customers cars were still in driveway just under where he was working ALONE. He seemed to be there all day on a project that should have been a 1-2 hr job.
I can just imagine the hose bursting, him flying off the 2nd story roof unsecured and the surface cleaner rolling off smashing the windshield and hood of the mercedes! And no ground guy to call 911!

I replace hoses every two years so bursting is non-existent.
