Art mentioned in another thread about the price of SH going up. I noticed that at the end of last season. I would be willing to bet I pay as much or more than anyone else,..at least from the prices I've always seen people post over the years. I am at about $364.00 per 53 gallon from Univar,.... and I pick it up,..which I don't mind,.. because I like bullshitting with the yard guys and the secretaries get me coffee while I stand in the office and waste their time,..Ha, Ha,.. What is anyone else paying?

Sheesh,.I wish.But,.. no . not any other option, we don't have pool supply places around here who sell in bulk,..or anyone else for that matter. ,... Pool supply around here usually only have gallons of 10%. And even if they did,..they likely would get it from Univar, and mark it up like crazy. The first place I actually bought "bulk" SH from was Culligan Water,..and they got it from Univar, Ha, Ha,..Culligan told me about Univar and I've been there ever since. Univar supplies pretty much everyone here who even sells any type of bulk,.and there are many,.if any at all.
*Believe it or not, before I started using SH I was using CH,..and I used ALOT of it over the course of a few years. Go back and look at the old "Grime Scene" boards and you will see me posting about it a several times. I also remember Chris Tucker and I talking about it and how I use to filter it with panty hose to get rid of the undissolved crap. I used to mix it up 55 gallons at a time. PITA for sure.
**I could actually use it again if push,.. and I do mean if PUSH really came to shove. I think I'd quit first, Ha, Ha,..

Well,..I text my Univar secretary yesterday,..and my cost is currently $6.46 per gallon. Just a tad cheaper than last season,..SO FAR!! I figured it would already be way higher. I will still be implementing my SH saving plan,..I figure to be at $400 per (53) gallon barrel by end of Summer? We shall see!

Jeff I don't understand why you pay so much. You are buying direct! Maybe that's the problem. Find a pool suppler that sell inground pool supply's,

Hey Art,..we don't have pool suppliers anywhere close that sells in bulk. They sell in gallons usually and it's only 10% and it used to be around $7-$8 dollars per gallon. Really don't have any other options. And I'm fairly certain that if the "local" pool suppliers had it in bulk,..it would likely be provided by the same Univar company I deal with anyhow.

We have had 2 totes (275 gal) we ordered last year to get us through the winter. We will tap into the second before the week is over. I'll find out pretty soon what the increase is going to be. We have two suppliers we can use.
I keep raising the fuel/material charge which now sits at $30.00. I can see it going to $35.00 soon.

Hi Jeff here's a S/H supply in PA maybe they have a vender near you.
"As far as chemical production, this will be another popular year for alternative sanitizers. While BioLab is doing a great job and still plans on having its Lake Charles plant operational in Q2, 2022, it will not have significant production of chemical until late Q3, 2022. This will be past the swimming / retail season for many states. Not only will there be trichlor shortages, but cal-hypo and even sodium hypochlorite have had shortages in raw materials from the chlor-alkali producers, such as caustic soda and chlorine gas, causing costs to rise. Across the board of all supplies, transportation costs also continue to rise.

Just lucky I guess Art, Ha, Ha... As stated earlier,..I will be using a more "appropriate" strength for house washing from now on. As it stands,..the percentage I use will start turning the black mildew on siding brown almost instantly on contact. Especially on those warm Summer mornings. I really don't need it to work that fast,..Now I will be more aware of the wasted percentage,...I will be cutting it in half to start and adjust as needed. I can adjust the DS'ed percentage with the simple turn of a ball valve,..just like we do with the proportioners. I call my DS system "Mini-Prop" Made with 1/4" ball valves. So anyhow,..I will be adjusting from here on out.

Jeff I did a large house wash yesterday. Between that tip I use and lowering the strength down it really cut the amount of SH drastically. I wound up applying solution to a bigger area than I usually would to give more dwell time. I can probably even go weaker next time.
I also did the roof- sunny side was Ok but I was wasting a lot on the shaded side because I was impatient.
Thanks Erik, that's the kind of savings I think I can come up with also. And like you said,..doing a larger area, or two sides at a time would be another possible benefit as well. I think as long as the conditions are right and not too hot or sunny,..it will be doable if I choose. I've always been a "waster",..and I think cutting back on product use will likely end up be less expensive per barrel than it was before anyhow,...simply because now I'm way more aware of the waste due to the prices.
*What is that cloud of stuff in that porch area. Seems like an odd place for that much mold,.and doesn't really look like mold? Looks more like smoke residue of some kind,.or just some serious long term neglect? The results are very satisfyingly though!

Jeff, that was just algae, maybe some wind blown dust /dirt on top. SH ate it up pretty quickly. It was really bad under the covered porches.
Here's a before pic of the back porch. (I forgot the afters...I'm pissed)
Yea Erok,..to me that's a weird spot for algae or mold to be growing in my experience. Can't say I ever seen growth like inside a porch area,...even on houses that were filthy green or black with it everywhere else. Not doubting you at all,..you know what you're looking at,..and especially if the DH made it disappear.
* Started my savings program yesterday. I went 1/2 SH as I would normally use,.... and the mold was still disappearing fairly quickly,.and even on a cold morning. And with about 5 minutes of time,...it got rid of some crusty type mold just fine. I just went and did something else and allowed it to work.

We decided to add checklists to each job since people were being "forgetful". If you use TCF it's easy to set up.
