WE drastically cut our usage back a couple years ago as we refined our spray technique. To me more cling is a bad thing as it can stick to plants and other surfaces and take longer to rise off. We use just enough to help the in cleaning process and limit our run off by adapting our spraying techniques to the job.
This is why these forums and these topics are so great for our community as a whole! I want more cling, more cling, more cling......stay on the roof. I wasn't thinking about the "cling" to other things.
I've adjusted how we spray and where we spray but just kept looking at the "cling" and have done so with tunnel vision. I still want to keep my mix on the roof but realize we can't. We now focus more on containment, capture and caution.
Thanks for the slap in the face Doug.......I needed that.

How true! We gave up on keeping everything on the roof. We have minimized the run off to a point I am comfortable with. I stopped buying surfactant on line due to the shipping costs and use what we can get locally.

Dave,
I used Dawn when I first started but then I did a side by side with roof snot and found I liked roof snot better. I only use a little(half of what is recommended) and it works just fine.
Others throw caution to the wind by reading the back label of Dawn. See picture below.
Last year I switched from Ammonyx LO to Dawn dish soap with very good results. At another forum there is much favor towards Dawn. Reading this thread however there seems to be bias against the use of Dawn. Please explain why Dawn should not be used as a surfactant and provide supporting documentation, if feasible. Thanks.
I used Dawn years ago, but it killed my mix after a day, I really only used it as an indicator that my mix was hitting the surface.
Once I found soaps (like Roof Snot), that didn't do that, and actually aided in the cleaning process I switched. Also like how the windows turn with snot. I have no documentation, only my experience.
Plus it's not cost effective for me to use store bought products. Actually cost me more.

I don't know why I stated I use Dawn when in fact I use Gain. Perhaps a pre-senior moment...LOL? Please disregard my question.
