To be honest, he knows nothing about that "hair" moss in those pictures. One of the first cedar roofs I did had that moss/lichen with those little red berries. Bruce said no problem. Well, it is a problem unless you get on the roof with a #10 pressure washer tip and pressure wash the entire roof. Needless to say, I fought that roof and made it work. The other problem is by the time the hair moss gets to the place in your pictures, it has softened the ends of the shakes to where a small amount of pressure will damage them.
That stuff WILL NOT come off with low pressure, PERIOD! I treated it just like asphalt with lichen and the customers are ok with waiting for some heavy rain to clean it off after it is dead. The hair moss grows in the butt end of the shingle and stands up like a crew cut, hence hair moss. As to the lichen, we treat with two applications and rinse with the PW using a #30 or #40 tip. It tends to get 90% off without damage.

On The Road Again as the theme song! You two would be perfect for the new series!
