We use all of Soft Wash Systems soaps. Green wash for roofs, green wash and terra wash for siding, final wash for rinsing. Plant wash for plants. Wood wash and wood restore for wood.

I change up on soaps. Basically any soap will work,..as the long as the user is qualified to be on someone's property. I use PinAlen in Lavender,..also the floral,..but I don't like it as much. I use Ajax dish soap also,..and oftentimes I mix the basic blue windshield wash fluid with it. Usually about 50/50,...sometimes I will use A&H liquid laundry soap,...I also used some car wash concentrates from KleeRite,..they were by far the strongest smelling,..especially the Grape,..very strong. Just more money than I need to spend on basic soap.

It seems as though I've tried just about everything out there, especially for roof cleaning. I have not seen any advantage to paying the big bucks for "industry soap". Well, other than losing my business and having my insurance canceled! (Satire for anyone reading for the first time).
Chris Tucker has stated and posted proof way too many times that soap is soap. The only difference is some of the industry soap might be more concentrated.
Jeff, tell me about the soap and windshield washer fluid. I read once before that you do this. I'm always looking for some new ideas.

Hey Brett,..basically,..I started doing this with the Ajax during cooler months,..the Ajax dish soap is thick and is really thick when it's cold,...it won't go through my DS proportioner and especially the soap filter,.... as well as it does in the Summer months,..when you can use it straight. So I started mixing the blue windshield wash fluid with it to thin it,..it has some cleaning properties as well,..which makes it a better thinning product than water,..I found it works just fine that way and started making a habit of it,..and just turn the soap valve accordingly.
Also makes it cheaper if that matters.
*Incompatibility isn't an issue,..considering it isn't mixed with the SH until it's inline and being sprayed.
Hey Art,..I use to buy the exact product you listed,..it was $103.00 to the door. Then they raised the cost considerably,..they lost me with that increase. I would have l stopped buying it by now anyhow,..so they can raise it as much as they want now. The soaps we use with SH for basic cleaning are very much over thought,.mostly fun to just change once in a while for the sake of it. Since I started using the DS proportioner I can use any soap I choose,..and that really opened up the options.

Hey Art,..yea,.if they send you (5) gallons cost free,..that is a a great deal,..shoulda' asked for 10,..Ha, Ha,..Maybe I'll jump on and see if I can get a free sample in the (5) gallon size.
Side note: I really liked the Lauramine Oxide AKA Ammonyx Lo ,...it was nice and and low viscosity soap,..that made really nice suds,..and rinsed very well.

What you stated is so true Jeff! I certainly do not have the years you do at experimentation but I was blessed with common sense many years ago!
I cannot begin to name the different soaps I have used that were going to change my life and some expensive stuff too! When it comes to roofs and house washes we just need a sufactant! There are times when we might need something else but cheap soap does the trick! The soap gurus can scream all they want and I understand they want to sell product and they are convincing the newbies as well as some who have been spraying for a while that they will lose everything if they don't use industry soap!
I really like what we can get locally off the shelf at 1/3 the cost and it really adds up through the year when you are running two crews.

Hey Brett,..I find that when I need another cleaner to attack a certain dirt or grime,..it usually has to be applied by a separate sprayer anyhow,..like gutter cleaner or an acid,..
I've never added a soap that made the SH considerably stronger overall mix,..with one exception,..NAOH. And I rarely do that. Use to be my go to soap years and years ago,..never used a surfactant,..just SH/NAOH,..super cleaner it is,....just no soap. Didn't use it on roofs though.

I did start buying my stuff by the 55, that saved on shipping considerably. Also Agent Clean is now doing the 5X line. Which is basically their soap with hardly any water in them. One fiver is designed to become 25 gallons of usable soap. That helps with the shipping as well... i buy 2 and dump them into a 55 gallon drum and top off with water.

I buy mine from tyler durden.
you can buy oxalic acid crystals at 99.6% and make your own wood brightener.
here's an example of a 2 pound container that you can make 40 gallons for $17.75 compared to store bought 1 gallon (5%) for $20!
40 gallons of store bought brightener would cost $800!
plus you can mix it stronger to remove rust.
also sodium hydroxide crystals aka drain opener also applies

We have been buying both in 50 lb bags. It is much cheaper and we can control what strength we have.
