I was asked to bid a job and they wanted to know if we were union. They said they needed union people on the job for a post construction clean up. Its a huge building with special safety requirements. I don't know much about unions and the problems that can start from working on a union job.

Ed,
Give me a call to discuss if you want. I have a lot of years working with the Local 30 Philly Roofers Union and know a little about them and how they work. We actually did a job early this year for a cosmetic distributor who asked if our help was Union, because all of their help is. We did the job on a Sunday when no one was working to avoid any issues....i.e... the giant blow up rat, picket lines, and the other problems that sometimes come with it. Exterior cleaning usually falls under the laborers Union in your area.

Ed,
You might have to pay your guys prevailing wage during their time on site. Payroll records also might have to be open to their review. Again, this is only during the time your crew is working in that environment.
