RE: What happened to this forum

It was a great year for me until the Congress, Senate, & President could not decide what to do and the government shut down... Since then I have seen a marked decrease in customers. When people get worried about financial matters they do not spend their money as easily and we are one the first to get cut out.
I think a lot of our fellow roof cleaners went over to Art's new board. I saw a lot of my fellow roof cleaners post there. I like Art, but Chris was here first and I do not want to post on Art's board and take away from RCIA.

We are the same way, we were going great guns, till that chit happened.

You think Texas slowed down, you should see the DC area.. The Government workers are all crying poor even after they passed the law saying they would get all their back-pay..
We belong to many forums and try to post a little on all of them.
So do we, however, we try to concentrate our forum posting where it will do the most good, for us, as far as SEO goes.
Google tell us how important it sees a Forum, by the Page Rank it assigns it. One reason we really like Small Business Briefs Forum, and of course, the 2 RCIA Forums.
Both RCIA Forums are Page Rank 3, and relevant backlinks for what we do. We are not "Softwashers", we are Roof Cleaners, and as such, I know of no other Roof Cleaning Forums that are as highly ranked, and as relevant as the 2 RCIA Forums.
So, we choose not to waste too much time and effort elsewhere
It is a mistake to believe that content and traffic are what matters, as far as forum backlinks go. It is also a mistake to believe that "if we get enough content, we will dominate the searches".
If that were the case, many forums in our industry have 5 times the membership and 4 times the amount of posts that RCIA has ever had, yet they stay stuck at page rank 1
This Forum has the most amount of roof cleaning related information of ANY forum in the world! That is unlikely to change,, anytime soon. And, it has me, a trusted Page Rank 3 Website, to feed it and our new forum fresh new content daily
I just Certified a new roof cleaner minutes ago, and we have a few more going for their Certifications, just lacking the 100 posts, and a few requirements.
Our new Forum is actually higher ranked for roof cleaning in some areas of the country then this one, and it's Blogs are kicking ass, in local search results,. across the USA. A fact not lost on certain peoples competitors.
Competitors are not stupid! They either have SEO Software, or SEO Guys who see that almost every top ranked roof cleaner has one thing in common, they have backlinks and or promotional posts coming from the RCIA Forums.
This almost guarantees a steady enough stream of new members, besides all the new people who simply want to learn the best way to clean roofs.
Actually, I kind of like no longer having to babysit grown Men, who are either unwilling or unable, to be tolerant of each other.
Or, people who have the misguided notion that by no longer supporting the RCIA, they are going to "stop competition" from happening to them.
These same people condemn the RCIA for "helping UGLY Shingles", when in fact the RCIA helps all it's members.
SMH, I guess it is "OK" for an RCIA Member to make a promotional post that "infringes" on someone else's area, but let Ugly Shingles use the SEO Power of the RCIA to sell what they offer, and then they Cop an Attitude
No one of us OWNS Any area, and competition is a fact of life, so get used to it.
In fact, when any of us buys anything from any distributor associated with the roof cleaning industry, we are "helping our competition" in an indirect way.
Do not think, for a minute, that your favorite distributor will not train and equip a local competitor, who will cut your throats, yet I don't see any of you starting your own forums, portraying them as the "Bad Guys" some of you idiots have made the RCIA out to be.
It never ceases to amaze me how some ex and current RCIA Members will attend and support "softwash get togethers" in their hometowns, bad mouth the RCIA, then turn right around and support the very people who crank out local competitors for them, by actively soliciting freaking window cleaners, who are used to working for nothing!

I'm not sure what Chris is talking about his forum going Great Guns until we started this forum. We have 35 members here. Of that 35 members maybe 5 were posting over there. One of the reasons we started this forum was to get all the old crew back together again. They all stopped posting over there long before we started NSWA. This forum had nothing to do with what happened over there. Guys left because of a wide range of issues. Not because of this forum.

Art,
Chris' comment about great guns was referring to how business was before the government shut down. I think we are all feeling the effects of the shutdown.

Gary is Chris's biggest Problem. I just can't figure out why he doesn't deal with it.

Poor Chris thinks it's all about new members, certifications and competition. "Promote them all I say" who cares, his board was ruined by a jack ass and he refuses to see it. People go to "soft wash "{ A/C } in nearby towns to look and learn new things. The RCIA lost the "top notch "guys like A/C,Bill Booze and others now the rest have had enough of the cause of it. RCIA will never have that "Quality "of guys on there again. Becareful what you write about Gary, Art he might suspend you.
I am just wondering why there has not been guys posting on this FOURM anymore. Where did everyone go.

LOL, Google will "park a Bot" on almost any forum, because it feeds on content. LOL, in fact, my old all but abandoned forum has not had a post in months, yet the Bots are still there! However, content is no guarantee of high page rank!
