I am working on the editorial calendar for 2014 and really value your input. One of the things I want to do next year is more regularly include articles on roof cleaning and soft washing in general, as well as some other things like wood restoration, so I'd love some topic ideas as well as information on anyone interested in writing an article. I've created a short, nine-question survey that I would LOVE to have you complete for me. Tell me what you would like to see in eClean next year, what you like about what we're doing now, and what we could be doing better. The survey is anonymous, so please be honest! (If you want to write an article, I do ask for your contact information -- but even with that, I have no idea who answered what questions which way so your answers are still anonymous.) You can access the survey here: http://www.ecleanmag.com/what-do-you-want-to-see-in-2014-2013-12-15/ Thank you in advance for your help!

I'm confused,
I shared an article with you that I wrote directly regarding our field. You said you would love to see it but would not even respond to my efforts to contact you?

Hi Eric, I looked back through my emails and did find the note you sent me. I don't know if I responded because unfortunately that email address is difficult for me to work with and I am unable to access whether I responded or not. I know I was out of town on the day you sent me the note through the contact form. All I can say is I apologize. I cannot find in that email file where you sent me the article, although I think you did. I generally refer people over to my personal account for this reason, so if you wish, please send it to me again at allison214@live.com. Again, my most sincere apologies.

It's not about what I feel Allison. It's about whether you want the honest feedback or not. I'm OK either way.

I have asked people to complete a survey with the information I am looking for to figure out our editorial calendar for next year. I have specific information I'm looking for. Therefore, my preference is that you complete the survey. Put your name on it if you prefer. If, however, you feel you need to publicly tell what you think of me and eClean, then that's your right. If you think I'm going to respect your opinion more because you blasted it on here publicly, then you do what you feel is right. If you are asking if I want honest feedback, I want honest feedback on the survey and the specific questions that I requested people complete. Thank you.

Allison is a good gal y'all and has just got caught up in the drama that clouds the pressure washing industry. Like many of us have as well. Give her a chance and stay above the frey. The sub fractioning of the cleaning industry and all of us picking sides will eventually kill the industry or marginalize it.

Thanks for the E-mail Allison,
Yeah AC, I noticed the industry drama recently but I don't get involved or pick sides. I contacted Allison because she's the editor of a magazine I appreciate for content and quality.

Allison: I recall writing an article some time back also as Eric indicated he did. I also never heard back or received a response, though given how busy you have to be managing this I wasn't concerned. I responded to the request through your magazine via e-mail. It pertained to wood cleaning/restoration. I did an article for Angie's list about the same time which they chose to post in their magazine and online.
Though exterior cleaning/roof cleaning has been around for some time, it is still an industry that is growing, in my opinion, and has yet to find a solid foundation for growth. Those that have been around this industry, more so roof cleaning, for let's say 10 years or more you could almost count on your fingers and toes. LOL I myself didn't truly start in this industry until 2010. That's not to say many are not good service providers, they are, but like any industry experience is the best teacher.
It appears to me that exterior cleaning which in most cases involves some form of pressure system and roof cleaning which has now gone to a non-pressure system are two different types of services/industry. I have never even owned a pressure washer so I cannot speak about the service. But I have networked with many that have. Many appear to do very well and have big investments in pressure washing. There are many that include non-pressure roof cleaning as a service but few that are roof cleaners only.
That said: Your interest in your post was concerning wood and the cleaning of or restoration of. I haven't read your survey yet but will. Though wood, more so, wood roof cleaning tends to be a niche service. There are those that use a form of pressure to clean them and those that use a form of non-pressure. Which in it's self has caused a lot of debate in the industry. There tends to be a lot of passion about this topic, on all sides, and could be considered a hot button topic.
For those directly involved it can be hard to rise above the fray and be objective and subjective about the subject, given the passion and the debate.
In my research over the past few years concerning wood roof cleaning I found there is limited resources to draw from but there are silos of good information when put together that gives a pretty good research foundation.
These are good starting places for research, though there is more good research or first hand experience information out there when combined gives a very good foundation to build from.
Thank you for your interest and contribution to the industries.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your input and references. I looked back through my emails and can only find where you sent me some photos back on August 29, which I've placed in my "photos" file. Please feel free to send it to my personal email: allison214@live.com (I checked that one as well).
Obviously I need to come up with a separate email address for article submissions. I apologize and will see what I can come up with. "

That's fine. Thanks. I can imagine how many e-mails you must get. I know just in my service I need someone to manage them. Though now with winter things are slow. If I can help with research on a subject matter just contact. sullivanroofcleaning@dwx.com liked your survey and see the direction eClean maybe heading. Looks interesting. Have a nice holidays.
