Art started a thread linking to Pressure Tec and it featured brushes. I thought I'd start one and ask what brushes you guys use for gutters. I use Purple Power with a pump up sprayer but they still need a little help with a brush to completely remove the tiger stripes. I was just wondering what you favorite brushes are. Thanks for any input.
I like the Easy Reach 10" yellow bi-level brushes.

I've used a soft brush that is similar to Bob's that I got at ACR Products(http://acrproductsinc.com/), which is a local PW disributor in Easton, PA. Easton is 25 minutes away from me. Never had any issues with it not doing the job.

We use the salt and pepper brushes from Russ at Southside. It has soft and semi stiff bristles. The green softies started getting flat on us too fast. We use the Unger pole to clean them. The full carbon one. It eliminates much of the fatigue and lowers the chance of a slipped disk in your neck from the force needed to control a fiberglass pole. Be careful with the butyl cleaners not to strip the gutter of good enamel.

This is why there is no shame in brushing, everyone wants the spray on and off product,..,...but using products strong enough to clean without agitation is walking a thin line. Many times they not only clean, but they also strip,..whereas brushing is more controlled allowing for a lighter mix,.. and brushing is more thorough for that matter.

I remember you saying that you sometimes brush all the metal fascia too Jeff. We don't but I thought wow that's a thorough cleaning. I bet your customers love it.

Yea, Bill we do,..fascia is even more prone to stripping than gutters,..I'd rather brush to clean than brush to paint,Ha,Ha,..I've discussed my methods of house washing in the past,..and it differs greatly from what the acceptable norm is. Always seems to start a debate, I'm more mellow these days and don't have a need to to convince anyone of anything,..so I like to state my ideas and people can comment and take it or leave it,...Not much into endless arguments these days.
But anyhow, here's what we do,..we soap the siding via DSing,...keep windows wet, use ladders go up lift screens and spray window frames/trim with gutter cleaner( Any aluminum trim gets gray and is greatly brightened by Purple Power or other gutter cleaner),...brush everything, including windows, soffit fascia, siding, etc..,..use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers when needed,..keeping everything wet while scrubbing,..then rinse. We call this detailed house washing. And yes, the customers love it and we've built a strong customer base due to this method. And it's not hard,...and very thorough.
Great for selling,..people like to think they're getting their moneys worth, brushing and Magic Erasers sell very well.
Two of us can do an average two story house in 2.5 hours charging $400-$450

We use a degreaser instead of SH because a lot of the houses we work on are semi detached and any over spray can be blown into neighboring properties and bleach clothes that are on clothes lines. We use a dedicated 12 shurflo pump and hose reel, a home made telescopic spray wand to pre spray the gutters, fascia, soffit etc and scrub with carbon fibre poles fitted with Gardiner window cleaning brushes. Works fine and is quick and easy in most cases. If we need to apply some SH we just put some in a bucket and dunk the brush in it.

I've yet to use a brush for gutter brightening, but after reading this thread, it's definitely on my "must buy" list.
