We started today at 10 oclock. Got 8 done and was back before it got dark. The trick is shortening your service area.

Gutter Cleaning is Good Money, you just have to explain to the Customer the point of difference between your company and the competition. What I explain is that they won't unblock the downpipes, they will make a huge mess, they are 100% uninsured, they know nothing about roofing and won't give you a roof report whilst they're up there. Etc. Etc. Here is my Youtube Videos: www.youtube.com/watch and www.youtube.com/watch . And my Website www.foreverclean.com.au/gutterhome.html . Good Luck and go get their Money

Exactly! We don't even respond to gutter cleaning calls. Sometimes we entertain and quote $199-$249 for local but I can say that it doesn't happen. People are used to paying $80 and don't care if you're legit, compliant, licensed and insured. The most comical thing to hear, which is said frequently, is "the last guy did it for $xx". I always reply "why didn't you try to reach out to him again?". Then they tell you he can't be reached or he's out of business. DUH?

I will quote it for a very large home as a stand alone service, IF, I see the opportunity for future work down the road. But I usually qualify them and ask them if they have someone that does the exterior cleaning of the home. If they respond with something like yes we do and are happy with him, he just doesn't clean out gutters, then I will often times pass, explaining that we are a company that does it all.....or nothing.

We have started charging for gutter clean outs with the roof cleaning. its a separate price by foot. They can do it themselves or hire someone else but it has to be done so we can clean the roof.
We havent yet but if there was a local job for just gutter cleaning we would do it if we get our price. Obviously you cant travel too far without the price being affected.

The bottom line is that we have a minimum price that can fluctuate between $250-$500 depending on the location. We can do $1500 for the day in 3 to 4 stops. Gutter cleaning at $150/stop would need 10 stops. Ive sold $8k jobs over the phone but Ive never sold a gutter cleaning as a single service for $150 or more.

I agree, we never do gutter cleanouts unless its part of another job. We als rarely entertain deck cleaning either unless they are very large. I'd prefer to do $1600 on average with a truck per day with 3 stops or less.

I guess I am a lucky fellow,
Did 140' of gutters today for $650. Granted they were mostly three stories and it sucked, but It took less than an hour. Initial quote was $500 but she wanted to change her scheduled date to an earlier time, so we charge a $150 earlier schedule change fee. I always do gutter estimates and jobs it gets me in front of people and I can usually make another sell while I am there.

Aloha Ray,
We were able to catch it all off our 40'. Very little debri, in fact we only had to move the ladder4 times. We set up at the top of the flow direction with our pressure washer and used our 0 degree roof nozzle to push everything to the down spout. This was a 7000sqft estate and they wanted me to clean the gutters on the entire home, but after I did my inspection via my GO PRO attached to a 32' extension pole I realized that only one portion of the gutters needed to be cleaned. When I tried to explain this to the homeowner she could not understand why I would not clean the entire system. I told her that for me to clean all the gutters it would be around$2500 and I would not feel comfortable taking her money for doing nothing. She still kept pushing the issue until I showed her the video.
In case anyone is wondering how I price my gutters It's like this:
$1 LF for first story
$2 LF for second story
$3 LF for third story
The higher I get, the higher the risk, the greater the cost. And if I don't get the job, I don't care. Gutters suck!

We do a fair share of gutter clean outs in the fall once the leafs have fallen. I do have a minimum fee that I charge (its high) and we have many days where we do over 1k in just gutters. When people call and then balk at my minimum, I give them the number of a competitor, I like to keep them busy with the low paying jobs that way I can get the top dollar ones.

I do plenty of gutters. It's a love/hate deal for me. Some are insanely easy money and others require a lot of "blood, sweat and tears". I'm in gutter season right now in NE PA. Unfortunately the window here is relatively small. Most trees have not lost all or virtually all of their leaves here until late Oct/ early Nov. Too far into November and there is the threat of lingering frost or even snow on the roofs. Or water-filled gutters may get so frozen that they won't thaw later in the day or take more than just a little hot water to allow them to be cleaned shard by shard. This year the weather has been more favorable than last, I'll say that much!
