Just received my new 1/2 versa magic diaphragm pump. My 1st impression is it is double the size of my all flo. Now I'm concerned with the size of my compressor. I just figured there wasn't much difference in size from 3/8 all flo to a 1/2 versa magic. I will be calling them in the morning to find out the required cfm and if I have to I will add another 10 gallon reserve tank that I have laying around.
I think you will like the 1/2". Which seals did you get?

I love my all flo and Im still using it. The all flo worked all year with out one problem. I didnt buy the versa matic to replace the all flo

Im using the versa matic as a back up pump in case the all flo goes down but I also have it plumbed as a transfer pump for chemical and water. I can also use it to water bushes. The way I have it plumbed it has multiple uses. Sick of low GPM and water pressure and want to make thevan ttotally self sufficient.

I was thinking of getting an air system up and running this year. I have the pump bought it 2 or 3 yrs ago and never used it.

Pat you should set it up,it is alot easier than 12volt. You could pipe it into the same hose reel and use 12 volt on small houses or early in the morning to keep the noise down. I still use my fatboy ,but on the large roofs or on the 3 roofs a day i stay on the all flo. The air compressor will do 3 roofs on one tank of fuel. Pat hear is a picture of how to plumb it into one hose reel.

All flo gets more distance , I keep the PSI @ 85-90 and this is its best working psi. The fatboy shoots a little e less distance but not a Hugh difference

Hey Brian, I have the same pump,..just got it a few weeks ago. If I remember these are 14 cfm, you will get at least the same flow and distance as the All-Flo,...you can run any size pump you want with a smaller CFM compressor,... it's just the pump will be under performing to its actual specs. I will be running mine from a 11 CFM compressor.
I loved the All-Flo,..my reasoning for buying the 1/2" Versa-Matic was a couple factors,..I like the 1/2" size because I can plumb 1/2" PVC right into it without having to use brass reducers to go into 3/8". I also just wanted to try a different pump, and these Versa-Matic are "supposed" to be stall free with the Elima-Matic models,..which these are. These pumps are also $285.00 compared to $395.00 vs the All-Flo. I bought mine from Kleen-Rite. Very good service.
Yea, these things seem well built, that is the first thing i noticed as well.

I'm adding an additional 20 gallon tank and sistering it on to my compressor yo add stored volume. I know the compressor will run longer to fill the tanks but the addition storage will allow me to run both all-flo and versa magic at same time. Would like to know your thoughts?

I'm no expert Brian,..But depends on how much you're running them both. Although you will be gaining volume,..once the air is depleted the compressor will now have to struggle to maintain enough cfm to run (2) air pumps. When the compressor is down on volume you will now be dependent on what the compressor pump itself can put out, this is where you will be limiting your distance and flow.
But, doesn't hurt to try and see if it suits your needs.
Aside from cost,...If you have room for a 20 gallon tank why not just add another compressor,..this would also give you a spare compressor.

Jeff I will let you know how I make out with the compressor I should have it all hooked up today. I don't have roof for a 2nd compressor buy I have room for a small 20gallon tank . The versamatic is rated for 14 GPM... and I run 1/2 hose. So my thought is there is no way to get 14gpm through a 1/2 hose even wide open with no nozes. So the extra storage will last longer and I doubt both pumps would be running at same time all the time and wide open. I know when my all flo runs wide open with no nozzles my compressor still kicks off when tanks get up to pressure. Or I could just use a compressor I already have that has 185cfm.
185 CFM,..must be the tow behind type used for running jack hammers and such. Yea, that would run it,Ha,Ha. The flow and distance I had with the All-Flo using 2530/ 0030 nozzles was perfect as far as I'm concerned. I use 1/2" hose also.

The one odd thing I did notice about this pump is it has a 3/8" air inlet? Kinda' weird I think. Not a big deal, just odd I guess.

Jeff I found that out the hard way, after going to get all the fittings to hook up the new Versa matic. I started working and realized the air inlet is 3/8in. Made a short install an longer install, and I was so happy to get away from brass

First impressions of the 1/2" Versa-Matic pump,...After a handful of roofs we've done so far this,..the pump shoots fine,..same as All-Flo,..with the same compressor,..so that's normal. I didn't buy it to shoot further,..I bought it because it seemed comparable to the All-Flo in materials, and is quite a bit cheaper. Longevity will be seen down the road I guess. Hasn't stalled yet,..but over time I'm sure it will,..just as the All-Flo did,..remedied buy a shot of WD-40 once a week. But I won't start that until it begins stalling,..part of the "new pump experiment".
I know Brian Jackson bought one of these,...and am wondering??
Brian we're all your bolts tight on the pump? Mine were not and it leaked from the top manifold due to loose bolts. sprayed all over my brand new GX-630 Honda and all over my new painted pieces and parts on my trailer. When I test ran it with water it didn't leak,...but the first job I did with it it sprayed roof mix all over. I guess the test run was just enough to loosen it.
So workmanship on assembly gets a poor score from me. Otherwise the pump seems fine and at this point would by another,..but will check the bolts.

The Allflo is still running after almost 6 years and i would never hesitate to get one again. If i could have put Allfo air system on my new rig i would have done in it in a minute. The Versamatic is a great back up pump when i had to use it. My allflo got moisture locked due to bad water seperators and i had to finish the day with the versamatic. I was using the Versamatic every day for flushing gutters and watering plants and it worked great. I think the Allflo is geared for the long haul and has a 5yr warranty.
