Not too long ago someone shared his experience about his runaway trailer becoming detached and the ladders breaking away and torpedoing into a parked car. That prompted me to rethink how I have my ladders secured. So now in addition to bungie cords I also secure them with chains and clasps as back-up.
great idea! we use locks on ours, just so the guys can take the rigs home at night sometimes without fear of theft.

I hear you about using locks. Fortunately I have garage space to park the rig when not in use. Last year though we had to camp out at a hotel for two weeks. We were in transition between selling and purchasing a house. I parked the rig in the hotel parking lot and did a chain and lock.
