Same mix as cleaning vinyl siding. Most are color safe. Just do a test spot first.

If you use bleach in your mix, rinse rinse and rinse some more.

They say S/H takes the UV out. Is that true?

SH will typically strip or partially strip the waterproofing on the awning if there is any.

If the awning is very moldy at all,..SH has to be used. The UV is an afterthought. Besides, can't that be re-applied?
Although it is true that a house wash mix will work,..try to eliminate most of the soap,..makes rinsing a PITA. Actually, TSP here is a better option,..doesn't make alot of suds but gives good cleaning power and stickiness.
About 1-2% SH hitting the surface is all you need,..maybe multiple applications,..but no shame in that.
Also, no shame in dwell times being longer than you'd think.

We just cleaned a couple awnings that were completely covered in lichen GC and who knows what else.
We used SH and they were fine. Later in the day, I went back with a heavy concentration of Green Wash and some SH.
I let it dwell until the lichen was soft. I then took a medium soft bristle brush and scrubbed it. Virtually all the infestations released and were rinsed off. Looked brand new.
Always check for color fastness and rinse rinse rinse when done cleaning.
