These are scenes from a cleaning of the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, its a joint college of two universities, Florida State University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. While the exterior looks like metal its actually a composite material that is coated with a metal type paint. One thing that I learned during this cleaning process it that deferred cleanings are really not good for this type of exterior. You can notice in several of the pictures that algae growth cause visible staining and paint damage where it had grown for the past few years. In some areas where it was the heaviest, it had actually eaten through the paint layer. In other areas if left visible staining on the paint.
It cleaned up with 5% SH and Bill & Paul's Stick-UP.
Windows were rinsed with a Pure Water system from RHG and a Gardiner Pole.
Feel free to ask questions, this was my first time cleaning this type of exterior. I will certainly be adding these picture to my marketing package to try and make sure other Facility Managers do not let the same mistake happen to similar buildings by deferring maintenance.
