Hope that everyone else is experiencing the end of season surge in leads and business like we are. It's gotten a bit hectic recently, but closing out the season very strong makes it all worth while. And with major expansion plans for 2015, there are some very exciting times ahead!
Our phones are blowing up for our primary service area (which is getting smaller by design) but we're also still seeing LOTS of activity from Maryland.
I've reached out on this before, but I'll be a bit more clear this time - if anyone wants to TRADE leads to get our Maryland leads, OR we can trade JOBS if you'd prefer - we close it in Maryland, you deliver the goods; then reach out to me privately and lets talk business. I'm only interested in trading for Virginia leads or jobs. BTW - most recent job is in Potomac Md, $1100 for half a roof. Plus another $450 if we have to retreat it after the first application. Job is SOLD we just need to execute.
Frankly, we've given away countless leads in Maryland, and no one has reciprocated. I run a business, and therefore we need to be bottom line focused.
Sound interested? Reach out and lets talk. But wait, there's more.....
I spent part of the winter down south last year, and rather than blow my clients off during the winter, I sent them to one of my competitors. (The good one, he's a super guy and is NOT Half-Priced Harry). Sometimes I sold the job first! Anyway, should someone from Maryland strike a deal with us, perhaps I could send them our business while I'm down south this winter. Something to think about... Winter income is kind of nice.... And I'm not giving away any more business.
Wishing everyone a strong close to the season and/or the year for the deep south folks.

Yes homeowners are scrambling to do their home maintenance projects before winter sets in. I love the surge in business but wish more of them would call during the summer to help level out the jobs.

Had a great chat with Mike / Gutterdog. The area of MD that I'm looking for help in is north of the District - Montgomery County etc. Mike services PG County and areas to the south and west.
Heard from another company privately, and may have the cedar work covered. Just sent him the first lead. I think it will work out well for cedar.
AC - good to hear from you and thanks for the offer. I've been in talks with the last real competitor in my direct area, and we may work something out given a little more time (which would greatly broaden our reach). I'll be in Florida for some of the winter months - perhaps we could meet for lunch or dinner and talk business?

Off Topic, Ted I have just had a quick look at your website. It is very very good in my opinion. I love the way you deal with Q&A and the gorilla is great. Very informative website for potential customers and comes across warm and friendly.

Thank you for the kind words. There are still many, many things that I'd like to do to it if I ever have any time.

Had a truck in Maryland all day; Boyds, Silver Spring, Potomac and Bethesda. Too bad no one wants to work something out. Maybe we'll just go after that market with a vengeance instead.

Re the end of season surge, I had a homeowner pull me from a job site to give her a quote on a few things at her house a few doors down. As she agreed to our proposal she said to me 'I see your trucks everywhere'. That was nice to hear, but better yet was her taking the 46th spot on our waiting list for roof cleaning! Life is good, unless you're our competition

I run into the problem all the time, trying to send referrals out to others. Ray Wilkinson and I have great relationship and trade leads all the time, but sometimes his schedule gets full. Right now we're booking into the third week of November, slim customers just can't wait that long!
Its frustrating to try and find quality contractors to send business to!

Ray - you've captured my interest on the commercial business. I may look in to it over the winter. We'll be headed through your neck of the woods in the motor home sometime in December. Maybe we could meet up for lunch. On me of course.

Commercial is the hardest easy thing you'll ever do. May take you a year or so to build the relationship, but once you're in... You're in! Only bad part is we spoil our customers. It's not uncommon for us to get at. 5-10k joc from a préexisting customer when want us to start in two days. My mind set it to make them happy ... Way too much marketing time and $$$ has gone into relationship to let them down... Which lead to me working a lot of double and triple shifts. Still, I'd rather do that then let my competition get at foothold.
Great example.. I've got FMs right now that havea 5k limit on their p-card. Let's say building is a 8k project, they allow me to circumvent system and submit two 4k invoices over a 90 day period. I'm not bid out, I don't have to compete! The initial payment covers all costs... The final payment is all profit .
From you if love the right way to run multiple crews. Scheduling is still such s pain for us! If you've got the time , park it in our yard for a day or two and we can got out on the river or even play a little golf .

And the same offer goes out to any of my friends on this board... You're always welcome to spend a little " spray wash" time with me and Tonya. We're seriously considering opening a dchool in 2014 for advanced and hook cleaning. Would love everybody 's input!

We had a "Ray kind of day" today. Second best day ever for one truck. 3.3k Not bad for a two man crew that worked from 10-6. It makes me realize just how much our expansion plans for 2015 make sense!

That was the game plan Mike, but we fell short of getting them all done due to making a chlorine run, 2 people wanted their houses washed, ran out of gas on the pressure washer (arg!!) and a whole bunch of up-sells (We did over 1k in up sells alone)
Now the fine print. These houses are all on the same street. We hardly have to move the truck and have virtually no travel tiime. We've done 10 in one day in the same community, but it was during the longer days of summer and we hadn't discovered the up-sell at that time.
We do have a second rig, but I don't have a crew for it right now.

Beat out #2 and #3 on Angie's list for the one in the picture today (according to the HO). We now have 63 roof projects in the backlog, and we're running out or runway!
While we're on fire, commanding a premium, 'Half-priced Harry' is having a fire sale of sorts. $129 for any roof? In the highest per capita income area in the country? A sign of desperation no doubt. (See the screen shot in the second image)
We plan on implementing our same marketing and business strategy for house washing come 2015, and we'll be looking for affiliates for parts of Maryland and parts of Virginia. If you're in either of those areas and would like to talk business over the winter, shoot me a PM or call please.
Ray, if you are setting up the school please let us know early on the dates. Personally I would love to spend a couple of days learning from you. Softwasapoolooza is a great event and I hope to go to another one sometime, so is the UAMCC event in Houston

Tomorrow will be on par and Wednesday; well, we'll hit it out of the park. I am SO thankful for this unique industry of ours. And to think that just over 5 years ago, I was a corporate goon slavin' away for the man LOL.
We hit a triple in a TH community - three consecutive THs almong other things!
