Up early on a cold winter morning so I thought I would clean up some bookmarks.
I found this link I saved to the Canadian Asphalt Shingle Manufacturers' Association. Their wording is a bit stronger than ARMA and US shingle manufactures.
"High pressure washing is sometimes recommended by roof cleaning service companies. This is NOT recommended as it can quite often result in damage to the asphalt shingles, primarily due to the loosening and removal of the mineral granular surfacing. It is very important that the granules be left intact on the shingles as they provide protection for the asphalt from ultraviolet radiation."

Brett,
Thanks for sharing. It's now saved in my bookmarks. Just another tool for us to show customers what the manufacturers have to say on the matter. It's a worldwide problem for homeowners.
