Mind you, the house was big and this dude had a huge long vinyl fence around the perimeter of the back. The fence alone would have ran an additional $350-$400. He was out of his mind. Silly Asians.

Lol... It's funny how the customers actually get more nuts in the summer. I have dealt with some cheapies lately too, as I am sure we all have. Only problem is that.....someone will do it for that number he wants, and then the race to the bottom is over. As soon as the phones slow down, everyone panics and drops their pricing. I would rather lay off a couple guys for a week or two, when it gets a little slower, than take on the liability and exposure for pennies. but not everyone sees it that way.
glad you told that guys Ed.....people can be really rude.

I may have misinterpreted this or his comment may have gotten lost in translation. But imagine every time you ask someone a price you go and hope something else is included:
Burger Shop: Me: How much for a cheese burger?
Attendant: XXX amount
Me: I hope fries are included.
Movie Theatre: Me: How much for 1 adult
Attendant: XXX amount
Me: I hope that includes pop corn
Massage Therapist Me: How much for 1 hour
Therapist: xxx amount
Me: I hope that includes a happy ending

Classic. I hate people ( customers) anymore. Most are great but those select few can really try and ruin your day.

Ed, Art sends those ass holes my way! Well at least i learned. The Friendly's Restaurant in my town about 10 or 12 yrs ago had this wriiten on the huge sign in front of the place. "Free Happy ending with every colossal meal!"I went nuts pointing it out to people no one got it. I took a polaroid picture of it { Shit polaroid maybe more like 20 yrs } I was gonna send it to Howard stern. I pinned it on a friends cork board when I retired, I wonder if he still has it?

Feels Great to just let someone have a small piece of your mind once in a while.
Customers are weird and i cant figure them out sometimes. Did a job yesterday morning. took weeks to put together cause customer had a zillion questions, they had 5 other estimates, and spent hours doing research on the process. Alot of work and thought went into this inorder to land a 2 hour job.
later on that afternoon on a diff job. neighbor came out asking for an estimate. I looked around quickly gave him a number and he whips out his checkbook, adds about 5% more then the estimate and says when can you start!! Amazing!

I'm paranoid about the jerk customers - with a Yelp account. Consumers are almost too empowered these days. I've seen so many Yelp reviews from people who never even hired the business. They go on and bash them about not getting a call back or that the price was too high, or that the owner was rude - and they never even used their services. It sucks that those guys have the power to impact business negatively.

You can get me removed with a small threat letter from a lawyer, for liable Slander. If they never used your company or service they cannot legally write a bad review about it.

Last week talked to a lady who had my $135 estimate (our minimum) since October 2014...has been bid shopping now for nine months. Really wants to play wash to do the job because of all the awesome things years about the company but needs us to "sharpen our pencil bit more"....smh

I like the way you did that Ed. Asians are the worst! Always wanting more and more as if we are working for beer money! I hate gutter clean outs but do it. One lady says... that much for gutter cleaning? I told her my insurance has no clue whether we are cleaning gutters of roofs and my guys get paid the same rate. End of call!
They are the worst! Funny that they won't give you a deal when you go into their convenience store!

Our stock reply is: by all means do your due diligence and get other quotes but allow me to assure you we will be the highest price. Then we explain we are fully insured trained connected with the best companies in the country and since we do make a profit we will be here next year etc etc.
Price shoppers are not our clients for sure
We do have one advantage over most of you heavy hitters on this forum at this time. We are the only game in town and for many miles around us.
We have single handedly created the need for our services by adopting the guidance of you folks, so thank you for the help.
It is so funny how many contractors who even do pressure washing on the side tell their customers to call PAsoftwash so he can "soft wash" instead.

I had a customer, who is a Sales Manager by trade, tell me the other day our price was right on the "sweet-spot". Not too low and not too high.
I know I know, the customer is always right. Sometimes I just gotta say what's on my mind.
