Google maps would let you do SF but not go back in the picture history to find the best picture w/o trees covering the roof. Google earth didn't have SF but would let you find pictures taken at different times. Today I found that Google earth pro is free.
Note: Google Earth Pro requires a license key. If you do not have a key, use your email address and the key GEPFREE to sign in.
Once it is installed, click on the measure icon, go to polygon then perimeter then area. Now you have the ability to measure from Google Earth using SF.

will it give you a true bird's eye view i.e 45 degree angle like Bing does? I still don't understand, other than perhaps cost savings, why Google Maps obsoleted the 45 degree view.

Has anyone noticed something different with Google Maps? The satellite images seem artificial. Perhaps it's just my computer. And yes I give it plenty of time for the screen to completely update. Refer to the attached image to see what I mean.
