I'm looking pretty good to getting an extremely large concrete cleaning job and was contemplating getting a larger surface cleaner to speed up the process. Was looking at the 36" Whisper. Read one review that said it worked ok while walking slow, that a three bar 20" would have performed just as well. I already have one of those and now am reconsidering whether bigger is actually better in this case.
I know it was only one review and most of the others seem to endorse it. My 20" does let me zip around pretty good....no sense going bigger just to slow down.
Anyone out there using a 36" Whisper or have any input on this?

Jeff, I think your issue is more on the volume side. Maybe Eric will chime in but from everything I see out there you really need the GPM to get the faster cleaning done.
If you mix an 8 GPM with a 4 nozzle surface cleaner you can really move around. Not speaking from experience but from research as I'm looking at a purchase as well.

Thats exactly what I started thinking while out in the garage Doug. I'm on the low end with a 5.5 gpm machine whereas if I was on the higher end it would push the spray bar faster.

Aloha Jeff, the formula for surface cleaners is 4" for every GPM. Your 5.5 will be maxed out with a 24" surface cleaner. I would Consider a 20" whisper wash classic with a 4 nozzle bar from Russ Johnson at Southside Equipment. You should be able to run wide open with that, especially if you pre and post treat.

Thanks Mike for that formula. So I have a 20" already (and it!s from Russ). So I'm maxed out and good to go.

36 is way to big for 5.5 gpm

Thanks for the info guys. I'm just glad I came across that review and decided to look into it deeper. Would have hated to spend that kind of money on something that wouldn't work like I expected.

We rent machines every now and then when we have larger jobs and I find the rental machines don't do a good job most of the time. Next time I need to look at the GPM's.
