When a pump stops working, is there an easy way to tell whether it's the relay or the pressure switch without swamping everything out? I'm sure it can be tested with a volt meter, but honestly I've made it through life so far without ever having to use one, so I'm not sure what points to test and understand what the volt meter is telling me.
I've got had two pumps down. Replaced the relays on each, one works, one doesn't so it's got to be the pressure switch on the one that isn't working I guess. The pump itself gave no indication it was about to puke.
This may be the dumb question of the day, but someones got to ask it.

Hook the black and red wires that go to the back of the pump to a battery. If the motor turns its the switch. You can take the switch apart and look inside and see if anything is going on. This is what I found inside a switch that went bad. Not sure what caused it and Delavan isn't answering my email.
You can test both with a jumper.....because they're both just a switch. Unplug the two wires at each switch then insert the jumper wire. If the pump runs you know which one it is.

Good video from Paul at the Power Wash Store. This is the old style 5850. You would just have to cut the wires and tie them together

Art I wouldn't even cut the wires, just cut back the insulation and use a short piece of bypass wire to test then you would just need to coat the exposed wire with liquid electrical tape
