Does anyone have a layman's schematic of how to properly plumb a booster pump. Something that is a drawn representation of the following: Incoming water source - to on-truck bulk storage tank (fitted with a float valve) - then out via short hose - to booster pump - to hose out. The float valve is where I seem to be getting caught up because of my lack of understanding.

The float valve should be separate from everything else. It used to fill the tank with water. Just run 3/4" poly braid hose from the valve to the back of the truck. Put a Garden hose barb on it so you can hook a garden hose to it.

True. The booster is best used to run directly off the house. If the house has a very weak supply then the tank will help. You are looking at whatever the pressure off the house is added to the pumps draw psi if you run off house vs tank. I have been running these since 2002, they are amazing, now combined with proportioner... Run 10ga cord off house for 3/4 hp or generator for 1, 1.5hp for ridiculous app and rinse trumping gas Udor and Hypro pumps.

Ok thanks guys. So if I understand correctly, the simplest method is to run both a 10 gauge hundred foot exterior extension cord AND a garden hose (supply line) from the faucet, to the pump. PERIOD? What happens when I stop spraying the house? Does the pump automatically shut off? Do I need anything more? For example: a shut off valve, pressure valve? If so what kind and where do they get hooked up? also is the volume and pressure controlled simply by the trigger on the spray gun?

This is a pic of the booster with a pressure switch and you also need a check valve in between the pump and the pressure switch.
Thank you brother Mike, The pictures brought a smile to my face, plus i'm laughing at myself for being so stupid ha ha

Tim has the pressure switch been tested enough for me to ask Paul to add it to the skid?

Yes. I would add it unless your going to constantly run the pump on the job.

Andy, no!!!! With the new unloader, it makes no need for that Pressure Switch.

For applying solutions the pressure switch is not ideal. The unloader we are using is working really well for now. I am currently testing another solution that is very promising. I'm not sure why it's being called "bulk storage booster pump setup". This pump has been in use for applying and rinsing solutions in the Softwashing industry since 2000 at least. I started using it in 2002 after talking to a local competitor/friend. The bigger pumps need to pull from a tank because they can out flow the intake of a typical residential supply. The 3/4hp pumps on 200-300' of line can only flow so much with all of the restrictions. They generally do fine coming off a good intake line. 3/4hp is a great pump for applying and rinsing that can be used off a extension cord. I use only 10ga cord with mine up to 150'. The pumps get incredible beyond 3/4hp going all the way to 3hp. Generators are used of course to power those. When supplying your booster from a positive water source you should keep the restrictions to a minimum to get the most performance from your booster.

Ray and Tim, What is the unloader you are using?
I have been running my little bypass line and it seems to be working great.
I will post the little addition this weekend, but an unloader would be cool...
If it is not ready for prime time, I understand
We are so blown away with our increased production with the Ray Booster and Pro Portioner, I see our profit line growing rapidly.
What little bugs we have to tweak are mostly air in one of the lines. Once all the air is vacated, it flat moves.
The fact we can feather with the Booster or rapidly cover large roof areas means I am at the top of the ladder for only minutes.
10-12 Hour jobs are now 6-7 hours.
We can't wait till we get good at this!

Steve, a 1/4" bypass is sufficient to keep it moving fluid and not "dead heading", but you still can't leaving it running without the nozzle open for very long. The unloader allows the same thing just more volume to circulate. I can send you one if you like buddy, I have a extra one.

Unlike a pressure washer with a return line going back to a 200 gallon tank, unloading a booster is only about a 12 " loop. The pump still needs to be turned off if you're not using it for more than 5-8 minutes.

I found this reasonably priced FloJet at Northern Tool. Would this be a decent choice for an H2O only booster pump? Any pos/neg feedback is appreciated.
That pump is perfect for solution and rinsing. The process of applying and then using it to rinse flushes the pump every few minutes. It also flushes your lines, reels and nozzles that's the beauty of the system.

Mike, what is the model number of that pressure switch? Am I looking for a particular on/off rating such as 30/60 etc?

I got to look it up but the one I got was 100/125. The original one kept blowing out. This one seems to be holding up well.

Thanks Mike, exactly what I was looking for (def not something I can get at HD or LOWES). Steve, I bought mine already (Sta-rite 3/4 hp 141 max psi -from Dultmeier's) , however when I click on your link it takes me to Graingers but it's more like $580, is your price better because you went through a rep? I know that Graingers has millions of items but just yesterday I bought a 12/3 100' extension cord (from Amazon)!for $44 USA made, Graingers had same length and size but made in China for $219 Yikes!
