Most people don't use the right products on exotic hardwoods and the results are failure.
Armstrong Clarks mahogany hardwood stain done right will come out great, the wrong or cheaper ones can come out with nightmare results! And resanding is a nightmare (ipe is known as ironwood for a reason! )
There are several other great products out there too.
Great job.

Whats nice about ipe, from a contractors stand point, is the stain doesn't hold as long as a cedar or pressure treated deck....you'll be seeing them every year or so to keep it looking nice.

Jeff, depending on environmental factors like full sun and salt air, a good product like A-C, Duck back exotic hardwood stains will hold up good 3-4yrs but your right, definitely up sell the maintenance package!
Go darker = longer

Thanks guys. Even after being chincy with the stain, I went back 3 days later and wiped up what wouldn't dry.

Dave, looks so good I showed your pics (this post) to a customer and got the go ahead to start. Did some samples on the steps to the beach, want to see how they hold up 1 season,1yr, 2yrs etc.
Out of 20+ years of doing decks this is only my 2nd Ipe deck I have done. It is called Tigerwood. I used Arm-Clark Mahogany stain.
