I have not been around for a bit, so I thought I better check in and offer a sacrifice...
As our season will soon start, I was reviewing equipment we found of value and one thing is definite.
The gear from Udder Tech deserves a trial. We have been wearing it all last season and love the fact it is lightweight, and fits so much better. They have several options such as mesh back bibs so you can stay cooler, and my favorite for sure CHAPS!
This company was founded by women, so they definitely include products for our female professionals.
They actually were going to drop the chaps but the customers including me won out! I emailed this morning and asked if they had dropped the chaps and they said not after the feedback. They also said they had stock, and they would put the chaps back on the website. Well, guess what, by the time I read the email and checked before I posted this, they are back!
The company listens to their customers for sure!
So, we are happy to endorse this product and company.
Glad to help Nick
I really like them. They are lightweight yet very durable. Rinse them off, hang them and let them dry good to go again.

Just to add to this,..I have bought (4) pairs of Carhartt Huron rain pants on ebay. These pants are on sale right now at Cabelas for $82.00.
A few vendors on ebay have them for $21.00-$30.00 depending on size. These are really nice and a heavy grade of nylon that is double layered on the front of the legs. They have a waterproof liner inside. These are heavy made for the category they are in,..but they are nice and light in reality.
IMPORTANT: These run BIG,..even for over clothes,..I read that and ordered medium first,..but they were too big. So I ordered the small,.and they are perfect over clothes. I wear a size 32x32 regular pant size and the small size rain pants are perfect. So use my size as maybe a guide.
I soaked the pant cuff in 6% SH for about (2) hours and didn't change color at all.
I'm likely gonna be ordering some more. Can't beat good rain gear for certain situations.
I'll have a better review on how it held up at a later date!

We've always bought cheap rain gear and it never lasts .Time we are done the season - we could have bought quality.

To a degree,..I actually prefer the cheap PVC coated rain gear over the lightweight nylon types. The PVC wicks liquid away for a longer period of time. Where as the nylon types are ok for a while,..but the water repellent that is applied at the factory is dissolved away by use and especially any detergents,..so,.. they eventually get water logged. Apparently this water repellent can be re-activated by washing the garment in gentle soap and water and then thrown in the dryer on medium heat. I never heard that until recently.
They also make products you can apply that will replace worn water repellent. Some are expensive and some are like the 'ole Camp Dry that's been around forever,...but doesn't last long.
Between the PVC and Nylon types,..they both have pluses and minuses. I like the repellency of PVC,..but once it tears, it's pretty much done,..it just keeps tearing. Ripstop Nylon doesn't do that.
These Carhartts also have the inner liner that is supposed to be more waterproof,..and will not be coming in contact with detergents.

Hey Jeff, are those bell bottoms?

Hey Eric,..they aren't bell bottoms,.but they do have a zippered lower leg,.and would look like bell bottoms if left unzipped. Once zipped,..they are a straight leg.

So I just received my new Carhartt that Jeff mentioned. Everything he said regarding size and the way they are made is true. I'm looking forward to trying them out. I'm wondering if many of you are just putting on rain gear type pants to spray but using regular work pants at other times? I have always just tried finding Chem resistant work pants for everything. This usually means we end up with. Stained, white painter style pants. It's not a good look. I'm hoping we can start using good looking functional work pants for the crew and then just throw on these Carhartt for the application. Seems like it should work well. They are sized so they can slip right over pants yet not be constricting.

Something I started doing last season with rain pants; I started using suspenders with them,..I always hated it when they slide down and end up walking on the backs of the leg cuffs. The suspenders solves this and the pants stay in place for the whole job. The drawstrings just aren't enough to keep the rain gear in place. These particular rain pants do have a less slick liner,..but I'll still opt for the suspenders.
Oh,..to answer your question,...I got in the habit of wearing them on every job, I just prefer it that way once I started doing it. I would actually like to be able to wear only rain pant sometimes,..maybe over shorts,..but never found a pair that was suitable in looks, fit and/or general appeal. These Carhartts may fit the bill,..we shall see.
My regular work pants are the blue Dickies uniform pants (874) I think is the number on them? ,..They hold up very well to SH and are very tough for such a light pant. They also dry fast I don't think I can recall ever tearing a pair,..they usually just get thin and fade out after about (2) years of use. I alternate about (4) pairs.

Good info, thanks Jeff.
I just ordered a couple different styles of military fatigue type pants. 65% polyester and 35% cotton. I will post about them soon. They look pretty good and have plenty pockets.

So I outfitted the crew and I with the Carhartt Huron pants a few months ago. We really like them, but... the inner liner seems to met/disintegrate from the juice. Tucking them in the boot helped a bit but they still are effected. The white inner lining turns sort of gummy and stick to your boots like glue. It's a bummer because other than that we really like them.
