Went to give an estimate today and heres the story. The house is six years old, above the front door is a nice balcony. When it fills with water it is design to run through a drainage system in the column, but it seems to seep or leak through dripping down below on to bluestone, The builder got rid of it every year for five years, he told the HO this year they are in their own. it looks like rust/calcium but feels like wax. She wants it off with no damage to the stone....I may pass as not to get involved in someone elses headache. Thoughts?
Yea,..that looks terrible. And could be a headache to remove,..totally. Looks also like water stains on the bottom edge in the first picture. One option for you,.. Get some info from the customer as to the approximate percentage the builder was able to remove and was that acceptable to them. Then talk to the builder and see what his method and product was.
* Me,..I'd definitely do a test spot with my favorite(s) acid rust removers,..and may take them both to make it right?

It looks like it could be calcite the way it is built up. That stuff is tough. Call Debbie at ShoreBest. This is the company Art posted last fall. I got one of their catalogs and they will send a sample of anything. Also, Debbie knows her stuff. Between the catalog and knowledge, I'm going to get everything I need from them to minimize the confusion and the next best product.

That looks terrible. Builder should have more integrity then that.
Does the AC line drain onto this balcony/gutter system?
