Anything you guys might do on a house wash to help the smell of a house that has been repeatedly skunked? They've been under the house, but I think they've gotten them out with a variety of methods. I don't smell it, but those that work there say they do. I think some of it is in their minds, but I think replacing it with a better smell might help.

You can use an odor ban product and spray around the house maybe too. It's a disinfectant that removes and kills odors I use it at bus stops works well. But get a lemon scent or orange so it doesn't smell like a bathroom. You an also spray it on the house.

Eliminating a skunk smell is harder than you think,..I know two people who sold there cars due to hitting skunks. The house wash mix,.scented or not will dissipate and the skunk smell will still be there. Time is about the best thing to get rid of the smell. They used to wash dogs that were skunk sprayed with tomato juice to remove the smell. Skunk piss is also a whole different thing in a physical sense ,..it is EXTREMELY hard to remove from anything it gets sprayed on. I've used acids 12.5% SH etc, etc,..and nothing but abrading it off would work. My respirator was sprayed with a skunk (3) years ago and it scarred the full face glass,..has spots all over it. But that's another story. I was trying to release a skunk from a trap for someone,..and well,...
*It took a LONG time of being out in the Summer Sun and weather for the smell to disappear from PVC rain gear.
**I've wondered about the use of Hydrogen Peroxide or Sodium Percarbonate to maybe dampen the smell. But you'd have to get it tight on the affected area.

One of my customers had one of here neighbors set one of those wire box traps for a groundhog,..(she didn't want it shot).. So,..when I got to her house to do her job there was a skunk in the trap. And the guy who set the trap was at work,..she asked me to release the skunk,..so I agreed. I put my PVC rain gear on, a full face respirator,..and I used a small piece of plastic sheeting and threw it over the trap. As soon as I opened the door on the trap,.the skunk ran out spraying like a fire hose,..I got it right in the face,..he had good aim and new how to use his defense mechanism nature provided him.
The smell of skunk piss is a while different thing than what most actually ever smell,..I was glad the respirator worked as well as it did,..impressed also! I started stripping my rain gear off and as soon as I took off the respirator I got a dose of how bad skunk piss actually is,..I never smelled such a "STRONG" odor,..wasn't even like a skunk really,..more like poison gas.
*On another note,..do you guys in the south have skunk cabbage? Around here it grows in big patches around swampy, wet areas,..and it truly smells like a skunk,...and is one of the first signs of Spring in Pa.

No skunk cabbage that I know of but we were right behind, and to the side of, another car as it hit a skunk on the interstate. That dowsed our car with the fresh stuff and you're right.....soooooo much worse than the smell you get after the fact.

I think this worked better than odor ban
Here's my wife's recipe:
16 oz of Hydrogen Peroxide
2 TS of baking soda
few drops of dish soap
Kills everything i used it on so far.

If its outside, liquid ozone. If inside Ozone gas. I have removed skunk odor from a few houses with the use of Ozone. Both inside and under a deck

Call Charlie at Eatoils.com. I know Doug Rucker and myself both can vouch for using Superfresh from Eatsoil.com on living dogs and cats.
It really removed all the skunk smell in one washing. Incredible. I would never have believed this was possible until Doug posted his result and then our cat got hit within a month or so of reading his experience.
