Hey Doug I think I saw somewhere you used house wrap to cover shrubs. Is this correct?

Hey Andy,
Yes, we use Tyvek house wrap. I've had many people ask so I'll do a video about it and about the Purex Crystals we use to cover the smell. I just don't want to do "that" much typing.
The $150 cost for the Tyvek is well worth it.....Feel free to call if you want.

We just use tarps.

Each truck has a 100 x 12 foot roll of the cheap/thin painters plastic. We also have clothes pins to hold in place. When we finish it is thrown away.

Here in the south the sun is just too hot and the humidity is crazy. Tarps and cheap plastic will kill plants just as fast as the SH. Tyvek keeps the plants nice and cool and protects them very well.
Every area is a bit different - tarps can help but they are too heavy for some of the delicate plants we deal with and they get too hot as well.
Cheap plastic is a strict no-no here. Plants burn ultra quick.

Well with my ten years experience we have no problems using tarps. The secret is don't leave them on longer than what they need to be left on there for. Spray the area then remove and move on. We have delicate plants and bushes here too and have no problems.
To each his own i say.

I agree Mike. We actually leave ours on almost the entire time. We rinse every roof and don't have the luxury of gutters most of the time....So we keep them covered until after we rinse.

We use plastic and tarps only for really big coverings. Although the use of tyvek does make sense, it's light, watertight and has cooling properties that the others don't. I can't believe I never thought of it. It's strong too so you could use it over and over again.
Heck you could even have your logo put on it if you felt like wasting money lol

All true Zach and even the logo thing. Problem is it does break down over time. Gets very thin but totally worth it and awesome.

I bought the 9' x 150' roll and will probably only need 40 feet this year. We cut three 12' pieces and use it over and over. It folds more compact than the tarps...but I believe is more expensive than a tarp. I like how Doug uses it, splitting some at 4.5' to cover shrub lines but we just never have to do that since 99% of our homes have gutters.

I will call tomorrow. We removed our tarps from some shrubs and watered heavily then moved round the home. There are dead leaves on boxwoods in a line under the eaves and she is pissed. Need something I can leave for an hour or so without damaging the plants

Leave'em on there all day and you won't have a problem. It's actually COOLER under the Tyvek!
I should be available all day so feel free to call anytime.

I give you fellas alot of credit who work without gutters. Efficiently spraying would be to the "nth" degree without gutters. I think I spray efficiently as it stands,.but I bet I don't spray as efficiently as you guys without gutters.
*In fact I was thinking the other day about myself and the one thing I NEED to change,..especially when house washing and applying gutter cleaners,..I know I use too much and waste,..I keep spraying over what I just sprayed,.when in reality applying one light coat that runs off is plenty,..and then I should re-treat,..not just keep spraying as it's hitting the ground, Ha, Ha.... If I were an employee I'd be fired. I am getting better though,...I have been learning to spray the siding ONE time,..and then put the trigger down and start detailing out the window seals and gutters,....all the while watching my house wash mix actually work at a lesser amount, Ha, Ha,...... I'm much better at the roof spraying due to the strength of the mix.
I like the Tyvek idea,..as it stands I never cover plants or bushes,...but fish ponds are always covered.

Cool idea on the tyvek, yeah if you get time to make a video about them and the crystals, that would be great. I recently watched your video on the gutter tool, and have one on the way. Thanks for the ideas!

Little off topic,..but I have wondered what the reasoning is as to why houses in the southern states are less likely to use rain gutters?

Have you never watched "Dancing in the rain-Drunk"?
LOL, I have no idea since the rains are really torrential downpours. The only thing I can come up with is that gutters really don't help much.....if you want to get to/from your car as an example. Gutters prevent you from getting dripped on but the moment you open your car door to dash into the house you are already soaking wet so why bother!

I think it is because there aren't as many basements, so less likely to leak and ruin carpet etc.
