I started the season wearing these pants,..and thought right away,..they are too light too hold up,....I was wrong,..these things are surprisingly tough,..have yet to tear anywhere other than at the very bottom on the leg where they get abused by by very strong bleach mixtures for flat work like flagstone and such. (Yea, I know,..not suppose to spray myself, Ha, Ha),..
They hold out water fairly well,..but I noticed my legs do get wet,...'bout like most light rain gear. BUT,..what I did notice,..only seemed like water could get through,..they NEVER one allowed any chemicals to get through,..and as you know,..you can tell when your skin comes in contact with bleach based soap. And,..my underwear never has bleach spots,..so that's proof right there Ha, Ha,...
I prefer the pretty blue,...and they stay pretty for about a month,..and although they are still functioning,..I replace them when they get too grungy,..but they are washable. I get size Small. I am 5'10" 180 LBS. Along with these boots,..its a nice combination. These boots are comfortable enough to wear all day,...very light and feel like sneakers,...very tough also.
With two crews going that would get pretty expensive. What I find that works well is Goodwill, etc. Khaki cotton blend holds up fairly well. They get shorts as well as long pants at $3.00 a pair. I provide everything else.

I like white Baties pants from Walmart. I wash them with Oxyclean and they clean up well. I like the painters Look, the Homeowners relate to it
