The tongue on my trailer is very short. It was impossible for me to back up. So I found an outfit that sent me a 4 foot section of 2.5X1.5" tubing to extend my tongue an additional 2 foot. For now, the 4 foot section was simply stacked on top of the original tongue. A couple of heavy galvanized U bolts keep it in place. I'm going to follow up with some tack welds. That was tongue lashing number one. Number two tongue lashing was from my sweet wife wondering when (and if) I'm going to get busy and make some money!
Definitely through bolt it or just get it welded right away

I would drill 2 holes and bolt it together
Sounds good, That's what I am going to do. Thanks again..

Great idea, picked up the hardware today, and drilled out the holes. I figured that 7/16 bolts would do the job. I feel a lot more confident about the extension now. Thanks
