They have been around for over 5 years now, so we should have some real world experience from the power washing industry. I am thinking about getting a ¾ HP setup. I was told that the 1 HP units can create power supply issues because of the extra amps needed and you only get about 1 gpm more.
What are the pluses and minuses, are they reliable, what issues are you having, can you run a ¾ HP unit off of a 15 or 20 amp exterior outlet, and would you buy another booster pump setup? If not, what would you recommend and please answer the same questions for what you would recommend?
I also need to know what generators are reliable and what size you need? I did some homework and it looks like 3,000 watts is the minimum you need for the 3/4hp and the 1HP soft wash setup.
We have been using boosters for about seven years now. We have always built everything, which saves a bunch and makes it easier to put things where we want to. Three trucks, three boosters. We still have 12V pumps as well as the ability to down stream. Only one pump motor has died in all those years.
If you are the one using the pump, or a well trained employee who gives a s---, you can get an entire season before you need to replace the impellers and diffusers. My experience is rinsing well after each job will add a lot of life.
We have always used 3/4 hp wired to a 5500 W generator. I have never plugged into anyone's home for many reasons. Everything has gone up in price. We used to pay just over $500 for the generator. I bought two of these many years ago and they have been reliable and have never failed us, except for normal maintenance like a starter. Duromax 5500. We took the wheels off and bolted it to the floor. The pump comes setup for 220, change it to 110V and wired with 12 ga. Also, buy this plug so the wire is flush to the generator.

I hope this helps.
