When it get cold here we always use hot water. We have a hot water machine so it pretty easy to make a mix up.

Regardless of the time of year we prepare our mix on site. This is made clear to each customer during our initial meeting. I keep my bulk SH in an insulated wood shed. Since I'm up at 0'dark thirty every morning I transfer my chemical from bulk to our truck tank before the birds are up. Since we are a family run operation it's easy to start later when it warms up a little. Majority of our work is vacation homes/weekend retreats and our work is completed while the customer is not home.

There are catalysts you can add to heat up the sh. AC has openly mentioned this product that can be bought from Leslie Pools, or most other pool supplies. I am not at liberty to mention the product but you can search the Soft Wash Systems forum. Try searching Leslie Pools on AC's forum. The stuff really does work. I've cleaned roofs well below 32 degrees (I don't suggest trying this). You just have to make sure you keep everything wet or you can get a white film (removable, not permanent).

All this give me an Idea. Wrap a 55 gallon drum with a Hot water tank Blanket. Strape it to a hand truck and add a pump . Fill with Hot water and Pixtals and you are good to go

I'll try brother. It might just be a bit beyond my control. We have a roof cleaning, house wash, gutter brightening and a deck to do tomorrow. I'm concerned with the gutter brightening but we'll get it done.

Believe it or not, we get quite a bit of morning frost up here in northern Florida (Dec, Jan, Feb). It melts by mid morning and we can still clean roofs and siding. The siding cleans up like normal but the roofs take a loooong time to see any sort of results. There have been a few times that I had to wait about 1 1/2 hours to see if I needed to touch up any areas.

I hear ya Hank. When it's cold we try not to even mention gutter brightening. If they know that it requires warm temps for gutter whitening they may put it off until the spring. If it's unavoidable I try to get 'er done at the peak heat of the day.

Here is a trick I heard to warm up the gutters for scrubbing. Run some hot water in the gutter first.

This is not a service I am to keen on, I would just rather sell it as a gutter clean and use bleach during a house wash. They still come out good, they just have the striping still.
