I talked about it a few times but I finally bought one today. (Lowes $90). I have heavy duty 3/4" hose that is a b*tch to roll up and now even worse with the colder weather. The box said it would hold 250' of 5/8" hose and this thing has 200' of 3/4" on it with room for another 50'.

Ray,

Looks as it will work for you. We use a Summit 22" hose reel to hold 300' of garden hose(5/8). We went this route because I got a deal on 2 for $175.00 and they were never used for any harsh chemicals. The two reels are stacked and it works great. One for roof mix and the other for water. Many of the homes we service are summer or weekend retreats and the homeowners never leave a hose out, if they have one at all.

Hank

I used to use 5/8 garden hose for Soft Wash application when I fisrt started out and switche to 225' of poly braid. I use 5/8" for vegetation watering and water feed to the pressure washer but for some reason they would always form bubles and burst. Not sure if it was the customers needing a pressure reducing valve at the service connection or I was buying crappy hose. (most likely crappy hose).

I was tired of buying new hoses every year so I went with the 3/4" beasts this year and wish I hadn't. They cost about $100 for 100' and they are nearly impossible to roll by hand and never loosen up and the main reason I needed a reel.

If you need a hose that can withstand being run over by a tank than these are the hoses to buy. If your going to hand roll out and roll up hose two or three times a day then the old trusty 5/8" is the way to go. When I go back to the 5/8" I will check out the Summit reels you mentioned. I have always had my poly hose on a reel and from now on, no more hand rolling garden hose!

Thanks for the heads up on the Summit reels Hank!

If you ever want to buy a good hose reel that will uphold to chem's, even BLEACH, look at Hannay. And better yet look to tru green or other fertilizing companies. Whenever they trade their fleets out they usually sell them with everything on it. But if you wan to buy just the hose reel set up you can. They are usually dual stack and one is electric and they still work great. I have an old Hannay I got off them that was about 7 years old, all rusty looking and all, we have run tons of bleach through it and never a leak.

All our other hose reels we never hook them up through the swivel. The hose reels are simply used for reeling hose.

Ray, that's a great hose reel. We have the same one we use for large commercial jobs.

For just a water hose reel, I agree. I must have about 500' of 5/8" water hose that hasn't burst yet but has a few bubbles in it but I just keep it rolled up in the garage "incase" I need it ... haha. Sorta hard for me to just toss them when I know I can get a few months out of them.

This 3/4" commercial hose is just about imposible to roll up by hand but the flow is not even comparable to the 5/8" and I haven't had an issue with kinks at all.

Element Contractor/Farm from Home Depot. I thought I paid $100 but they are only $60 for 100' roll.     3/4" hose

Hanney makes the absolute best reels in the industry. Cox are getting way better these days too. We will never run chlorine through a reel again. Just too easy to have 100 foot sections and never worry about that leak possibility.

My Kuriyama hoses for roof cleaning have 4 years + on them and stay flexible in the cold. We will be using these for residential water as well. On the skid I have some 3/4 black rubber monster that tries to drag you to your knees when you roll it up.

Pure PVC hose FTW : kuriyama.thomasnet.com/viewitems/reinforced-air-and-water-hose/s-k1231-k1232-k1234-k1236-air-water-hose-1|3001377|1073

Tundra hose best bet in the cold weather....it could be 50 below and you would think this hose was sitting in the 80 degree sun. I have it this hose for a good two years and switched and regret it...even the roof sprayer was upset...very very light and flexable!

Are you using this hose for your roof chemical applicator hose or just as a water hose?

I have been running 5/8" Flexzilla hose for two seasons, but the last piece we got made me uncomfortable as it seems to be bulging.

Which line are you using?

The Tundra hose above I used for two years the guys loved it....very light and never kinked. Late October ...November it reacted like it was 90 degrees out...easy to handle and roll up. I have the hose from Bob it is good but they like the tundra better. They say they never would trip/slip with the tundra. I still have the Tundra I only use it as an extention when needed.

Also the tundra is light as a feather....they loved that up there. They say they wish I just got a new Tundra hose.
