Zach, you'll love it for time lapses! GO AHEAD A GET THE EXTRA BATTERY. Mine sucks battery life like a fiend. Also, a tripod will be a handy tool to have as well as the accessory mounting pack.

Check out this video at the 1:04 mark. Thats the camera mounted to a hose.

I've even mounted the camera on the tip of a pressure wand while doing curbs and the camera suffered no ill effects.

This one shows a time lapse where I had it on a tripod starting at 00:24
