Competition whose motive is merely to compete, to drive some other fellow out, never carries very far. But when a business ceases to be creative, when it believes it has reached perfection and needs to do nothing but produce-no improvement, no development-it is done.

Hey not to be a prick Ted because from all of your posts I've read I really respect you but looking at the ladder in that pick it really should be 3 rungs higher of roof line to make getting on and off roof safely (OSHA) and use rfoof brackets.

Have a customer who bought a 3.5 mil. house with exspensive copper gutters where previous owners had some one paint the second story extensin over a short roofline and every 3 feet gutters were bent in damaged. Luckly I was able to bend them back. would have been damnexpensive to replace.

But your work always looks great!

I prefer to  talk business vs the great ladder debate, but since you brought it up.....

  • The  $1800 in additional business?  New gutters.  They go on this week.
  • Ladder stabilizers ( I think that's what you meant) - for copper gutters, half rounds and slate shingles - all day long.  For a 4/12 rambler?  Never.

We specialize in roofs, and do between 5 and 10 a day, but thanks for the concern Maverick.

A wise man seeks to understand, then to be understood.

I agree with maverick. Use a stabilizer bar on every job. It's just safer.

I spun a ladder around once years ago. Not fun being on the backside of a ladder..........

Safety is an important key in being competitive and profitable in the long run. BTW if we're taking a survey now, I also use a stabilizer...LOL.

Some people just think their to good for the old stabilizer bar. No matter what pitch the roof is a stabilizer should be used not only for safety but also not to dent or scratch the gutters. It is a no brainer and takes about 2 seconds to attach to the ladder.

Mike,

I'm with you. Stabilizer is the way to go. Safety is an obligation that can't be accomplished on a fix it tomorrow basis or take a chance attitude.

Jeff thanks. Yes we are having a good season. Steady 3-4 jobs a day. We are finally on pace from last year even though we lost a whole month due to weather.

Hank some are more concerned about money than safety.

I went on a house wash Friday. Big high ranch on a private road.. She was getting prices for $200, I got it for $375 plus a roof wash on the front for $350. What is wrong with these guys?

Desperate people out there

Had a lady last week tell me if i come down $100 off my house wash price and match another guy id get the job

I said'Mam- His company is not like mine, his process is not like mine and honestly lowering my price is putting me on his level and we are not, so if you want a great job done by a company that guarantees its work then you will see were worth the $100"

Needless to say we didn't get the job

So be it-
