I don't use Angie's list, I think they're a bunch of extortionist Jack-wagons. However just had something happened to me today and wanted to bring it to the forums attention. I received a certified letter in the mail that was a cease and assist order from a new company called "extreme cleaning" based here in Tallahassee. The letter said I was using his logo and pictures from his website. I was obviously very confused so immediately called him upon receipt.

He then informed me that the photos and logo in question could be found on the Angie's list site. And that Angie's list told him the only way this could happen is that I had logged on and's taken his photos/logo.

I have not been on Angie's list in approximately two years.

I explained to this gentleman that one) I had no idea who he was and two) that I have no need at all to use his photos, seeing as how spray wash exterior cleaning does about $45,000 a month in various cleaning projects and literally has thousands of job photos.

I then immediately called Angie's list to figure out what happened. I got a song and dance, and an explanation that didn't make a lot of sense. They explained that somebody, with a very similar email address to this new cleaner was trying to claim their website and mistakenly clicked on mine, and began editing my business information. I asked them how this could happen since nobody else had my password. They could never really explain how that happened, but stated their fraud/Miss-use agency had caught that mistake and reverted all the information back to the pre-November 17 changes. This is an a miss-truth/ out right lie, because it was this new cleaner that pointed it out to Angie's list, not their fraud department.

I called the new cleaner back and reportEd my findings,  and he was adamant that he did not mistakenly try to claim/edit my business information.

I guess the moral of the story is that Angie's list is not nearly as secure as it should be, and you should occasionally check your business profile there. Another moral is that Angie's list will completely BS you to try and cover their tracks. To me it's just another reason why I don't want to use Angie's list.

Worst comes to worst have him produce a signed recipe with address and provide yours to anyone of those jobs and submit it to Angie list or legal, his attorney. If he cannot tell you the location he's got no case. Preferably a residential.
