OSHA fall protection from A to Z

Workers must comply with all rules and regulations that apply to their actions and conduct.
 
Where OSHA has not developed specific standards, employers are responsible for following the Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) Act's general duty clause, which states each employer s hall furnish ... a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees."
 
Employers must provide a training program that teaches workers who might be exposed to fall hazards to recognize such hazards and minimize them. Workers must be trained in the following areas:
  • The nature of fall hazards in the work area
  •  The correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling and inspecting fall-protection systems
  •  The use and operation of controlled access zones and guardrail, PFA systems, safety-net, warning-line and safety-monitoring    
  •  systems
  •  The role of each worker in the safety-monitoring system when the system is in use
  •  The limitations on the use of mechanical equipment during the performance of roofing work on low-slope roofs
  •  The correct procedures for equipment and materials handling and storage and the erection of overhead protection
  •  Workers’ role in fall-protection plans 
  •  The OSHA fall-protection standards
