We all have our horror stories with employees. I'll take any equipment issue over the past two weeks.
Monday one of the office ladies came to work sick, apparently she had taken pain medication left over from a previous illness and it made her wacko loopy! She locked herself out of the computer, I got in with the Microsoft login but... she let the computer go back to sleep and it would let me in again. After I told her to go home I started messing and searching. The easy thing was to gbo back to factory settings since there is so little kept on the computer.
Next, the guy I have had since August, just didn't show up. I had heard from a few he was worried about making too much money because of his disability (believe me, he should be 100% because he has a hard time with ground work). Then I found that the new lead tech was working him too hard. So... after all that time and helping him through winter, he just didn't show up!
Next, the lead hired in early March who gave me his word that he would stay through December gave me a two day notice on Thursday morning. Again, another I did as much for as possible but he was upset because I wanted him to follow procedure and protocol.
To add to all this, two weeks ago, Robin, who has been with me for fives years got T boned in the city. The speed limit is 25, she ran the light and hit him hard enough to roll him twice and cut the roof to get him out. Fortunately the only injury is a cracked sternum. I'm hoping he can start more hours this week if only to bark orders and point.
I have a new lead starting Wednesday and one of the good guys I had last year will be coming back as well. I sure hope these two crews stick around at least until December.
I think all of this is some kind of test to see if I can keep it together!
