Jobs per week, employees, down time

Just curious how many jobs a week are you averaging, how many employees you keep, and how do you retain them when there's no work?

Personally cleaning is a side business and we keep core employees busy most of the time but roof cleaning is just me and a helper that only keeps everything wet.

If I dedicate 2 guys full time as I'm limited on how much climbing I can do, I need to keep them busy or teach them how to do high end painting which is always a problem.

I'm about the same as Art. I stopped advertising a long time ago,.. Have business cards on hand while working to give to anyone who asks, and only have a website for reference to people who get a card, Ha,Ha.

I prefer working by myself,..can come and go as I please,..stop and look at work on the way home, etc, etc,..

Wouldn't care to be responsible for someone else's income,..let alone the insurance, etc, etc,..

With that said, the young fella you see in my profile went along on a few jobs last season,..and may again this season. That's a whole different story though and he's wouldn't be a typical employee type. I would like to at least teach him a skill(s),..so for me it's more of a fulfillment.

Many times I wish I could work alone. Employees are such a pain these days! The very small number who have work ethics gets smaller as each year passes. The business has grown by leaps and bounds and before Sleepy Joe destroys the country much worse than the peanut farmer, it will be sold.

About 12 - 16 jobs per week with four in the field and 1 1/2 in the office. We offer many different bonus programs and if someone knows how to take care of their money (I've only had a few) they can easily make it through our two months of down time. Although we are "shut down" in January and February, we do got a lot of days where we can get jobs done.
