Are oak trees the biggest problem??

I was working on a home yesterday that has to be one of the dirtiest homes (Roof cleaning) I've ever cleaned. Not only was it covered in moss and Lichen on every section of roof (north, south facing etc) but the Algae build up was so bad it took about 5 applications with some pretty strong mix on the final 2.

Anyway this got me thinking about what type of tree is the biggest contributer to a dirty roof.  Is Oak tree the worst? Anyone with an oak tree on their property knows how much of a mess they create, from tumble weeds in spring,  dropped branches, acorns, and who knows what else.

It seems from my experience that the dirtiest homes and roofs generally have oak trees on the property. This house had a giant oak on the front lawn covering the entire house blocking most if not all sun light.

Pic of roof is after 3 applications .

Pic of tree.

I haven't noticed any particular tree, but the ones that give the house endless shade have given us the biggest problem. Add in the fact the roof should have been cleaned 10 years ago!

I know your weather is getting cooler. Did you clean this one on a cool day? That could be part of the difficulty.

Weather was decent at least 75. Some sun would have helped but thats not it. Def no sun getting through this thing.
