I'm thinking of buying a roll of Rain Drain 1000. I think it would be a good idea to leave on the leader after the job is done. Some times theres a bush or tree close to the drain and this would direct the mix away from it. One roll of a 1000' cost about $150. Do any of you guys use this or have you tried it. I think this would come in handy at times.

I use it and it works great. I haven't bought it in that length but I will buy a roll of that for next year.

Art,

I have not used it yet but it is another option when it comes to controlling run off. We normally wash out the gutters with our pvc gutter cane(s) during and after our process. We have several gutter canes in various lengths up to 12'. 95% of the time the roof is dry before we leave.

We use them too. I love the way you can divert the solution. We carry a small collapsable shovel when they are under ground and dig out the end of the pipe.

We use them. made the mistake of paying $20 for 50'. its just 6 mill plastic tubing. If your going to leave it there untill the first rain how are you going to keep it in place without it blowing around in the wind?

I think he means the wind will blow it where you don't want it to go. I think the stake is a good idea.

If it is zip tied to the elbow. Its not going anywhere. The weight of the water will open it up.

I'm not looking to run long distance. Just looking to direct the run off away from the shrubs when I leave the jobs. Had to kills this year. The first one the homeowner put a drain tube into the bush. The second one dumped her mothers ash's into the bush and I came along and watered her in. They were both my kills.

We used them and a gutter cane all season. We leave the rain drains on for two weeks if the downspout dumps out at the base of a shrub. We inform the customer why we are doing it and they have no problem throwing it away.

I've always just flooded the area and used Plant Wash. Haven't been called back (knock on wood) for any dead shrubs. However, I do like the idea of these rain drains and will buy a roll.

Question: If the drain dumps onto a shrub and there is nothing but nice green grass surrounding the house, where do you divert it to? Do you ask the customer what's more important....her shrubs or her grass?

I've been using these for a long time now. I tell the customer they can remove it after a good rain.
