Twin county pools in farmingdale. I usually get enough in the tank for scheduled jobs. Plus I fill 4 carboys.

I checked them from google earth, is that large tank on a truck or is that where they are dispensing it from?

Boy $3.75 a gallon is high but then again so are home prices and property taxes on Long Island.

Hank it also is important to take into account price vs % and freshness but your right, cost of living, taxes etc on long isand esp. nassua county are some of the highest in the country so everything is relitive, hence pricing needs to be much higher than national averageges. doing a simple house in Florida for $150 is easily $500 here. No room for lowballers.

The same house that in florida that would cost $50k is $as much as $500k on Long Island

Erik,

I'm originally from Forest Hills in Queens and still have family there. We have our chemical delivered in bulk at fresh 12%. We have two 275 gallon tanks on site for our bulk delivery.

My current supplier pumps directly in to my trucks (at their location) via Thompson 34GPM pumps. My new supplier will be delivering via tanker - 1200 gallons at a time in to a large vat. Transfer to the trucks will be via pool pump for now. Still thinking about that $1600 Thompson rig though....

I would like to get some delivered but dont know how much im going to go through consistently. If I could find someone to deliver drums how long will they stay "fresh" in the garage. And Im paying $3.50 gal not $3.75 I was mistaken. Just trying to limit the amount of times I have to drive to the supplier.

Ouch that sucks. I thought for sure you guys would have it figured out better then me. Try them - there real nice there. Especially chuck. Heres my plan. one day a week Ill go and fill up my 125gallon on the trailer then bring it back to the house and transfer it into another tank or drums. this will save me 3-4 trips picking up 30 gallons at a time.

Whats the leslies price?

Theres a place called autochem in hampton bays. I got 10 gallons from them the other day. ask for Tom.

It might not be closer but the traffic is probably less in that direction.

P.S. I just read my own post! This has to be the worst grammar and capitalization and punctuation ever in one postdisbelief

Just a side note on the pool pump we used last year for our transfer from the 350 gallon tote Univar delivers:

It sat with antifreeze in it thru the winter months. last week we hooked it up and it worked just like a new one--

We transferred 55 gallon in 3+ minutes, no problem.

We are getting set up to use Univar's mini bulk tank system in our shop. We have to pull from the top, but I believe the pump will work fine.

Currently, the totes have a bottom bulkhead, but they do not want to use that on the mini bulk tanks. The best bottom bulkhead is the one that is not there when it comes to SH

So far, we have been happy with the system.

If you spring for the big bad pump, keep us in the loop

Thanks for the insight Steve.  3 minutes for 55 gallons sounds damn good to me    No bottom bulkhead on the vat, although it's about 8 feet tall!  Wishing you a banner year my friend!

What diameter hose do you use?

Sorry about that Andy, I missed your question earlier. I currently use 225' of 1/2" poly braid and use dual, in-line deep cycle batteries. I used to use 5/8" garden hose when I first started out and it worked fine. When I switched to the 1/2", I did notice just a small amount of loss in distance. When it's time to change out the hose, I am thinking of going with the same length but 5/8" dia poly.

Mike was spot on with the tip size and I sometimes use just a regular metal garden nozzle with pretty good results (they don't last long though).

SIDE NOTE: The batteries are connected in Parellel not Series. Two 12v batteries connected in Parellel remain 12v output .... compared to two 12v batteries connected in series results in a 24v output.

That is almost the same set up I have. I too started with 5/8" and have changed to 1/2 poly. I will not go back to 5/8" though. I use 30's instead of 40's with the fatboy. Also love the parelle battery set up. I have had some long days and never ran out of juice.
