Next weekend is our first home show of the season.  This show was great last year and we generated a lot of business by doing it.  We are trying to think of some ideas of how to draw in more people to our booth, maybe give away a purse or iPad? if you have any suggestions, throw them out there!  Thanks

Great ideas Hank.  Our  show is in Lancaster so, we are a half hour closer to you.  We will give you a nice sales commission! LOL

Freebies are great.  I was considering reusable grocery bags with our logo and website.  We do offer a special show discount and give free sidewalk cleanings, in most cases.

The girls however, are a great idea!  On the "off" hours at Softwasapaloza, we spent a lot of time and $$$ with girls in short kilts, knee socks and halter tops at Tilt a Kilt.  I could see the kilted girls selling a whole lot of roof cleanings because they can sure attract a crowd and who can resist a girl in knee socks? LOL

Ive done about 7 shows now, freebies (to me seem to be a waste of money) most people pick through it and throw out the rest, unless its and ipad but even then you only reached 1 person.. A lot of people at homeshows go and trick-or-treat, we have had to tie the pens to the clipboards.. The best return we have found is to give away a a total house wash (the works) this way you have the name and numbers of people who are actually interested in your product, not Jim Bob from Virginia beach that was in town visiting his grand-daughter and came into the show because it was raining and now you gave him an ipad.. Just and idea

 Sounds like very good advise.

Good topic Lisa. I'm interested in any good ideas.

I thought it would be a great idea to have a nice computer setup with someone dedicated to doing on the spot estimates of people's houses on google earth. It's easy when you do it as much as we do. You can show them there problem areas and point out why they have issues in that particular area. You can measure it and give them an estimate in no time. They will come away surprised and impressed how well we know our profession and be talking about it.
My plan is to have that set back under a tent for better visibility. In the front area I would have streaming before and afters on a big flat screen. I would also have a visible invitation to view and receive a free consultation of their home in minutes.

Eric and Lisa,

What booth size do you have? Is this the same display that I have pictured below?

BTW...I keep a photo file of booths that exterior cleaners have set up so I have ideas for the future.

Hank

I have done a few shows, have 8 of them this spring. I have done the freebies - pens and other items. I consider them all a waste of money. Like Lee stated, people will just grab your "FREE" stuff and never call you for a job. We always have a bowl at the shows for people to put their contact info in and are then entered into a drawing for a free house wash.
We tried a $50.00 gas card at one show, got thousands of people to sign up - out of all those people we called the week after the show - we ended up with 4 quotes and 2 jobs. So now we stick to a free house wash, at least we are pretty sure that the people that sign up are at least thinking about it.

Use the vertical stand up banners, get jenny at racenstein to send you the f9 graphics for their small tabletop signs. I get good results with signs featuring stucco cleaning and rust removal because they all tried doing and can't get good results

Yes, Hank that's the one.

Nice booth Dan.

Giving away a house wash is most likely what we are going to go with. I also think using the F9 advertisements would be a great idea. We have some great before and after rust pics that I'm going to have enlarged and add them to the display. Thanks for your input guys.

In full disclosure, I've never done one. Ours in Tallahassee is poorly marketed/attended and we never find our about it until its too late. But, if I did do one, I'd keep the giveaways cheap...note pads, stick note, pens, etc. I would also buy a big old 40" TV/monitor and run a powerpoint of before and after pictures continually.

Tha beign said, I've almost pulled the trigger on the grocery totes a couple of time, seems like a great thing to give to customers!

I tried the free house wash or free roof cleaning deal a few times. I actually had better results using a $ value. For example $250 off any exterior cleaning service. It seemed to add more value to the service. Most people have no idea what our services can cost, and seeing a sign for $200-300 off often grabbed their attention. Also someone that signs up for your drawing has now qualified themselves as a paying customer. They already realize they will be paying something but love the idea of saving money.  This will allow for an easier up sell to the winner. They are often more likely to have the windows cleaned or house washed etc because they just saved on the service they were initially interested in.

I agree with Ray about the TV. We do run a flat screen in the booth durning the shows. Showing before and after pics of all jobs we have done.

Hey Matt, welcome. I see your process is with foam. Is that a machine? Can you explain your method.

I would drive to PA to have a go at dunking Eric. As long as its not Lisa though, I wouldn't want that wrath.
