Sorry boys, sold the 5850 in a box with accumulator for $220. Just purchased a Yamada NDP-15 FVT - 1/2'' Diaphragm Pump. Starting my build this week.

Hi all, here is some pics of my 1st build. It isn't quite done yet but Im having a ton of fun building and creating. The inlet hose & PVC are 1" so I can upgrade from 1/2" spray hose to 5/8 or 3/4.

Looks good. You will need a back up pump. Where did you get the Yamada?

One of the most important tips and or lessons I've learned is to have backup pumps(5850), fittings, clamps, etc.. For me it was penny wise and pound foolish mistake I made several yers ago. A mistake never to be made again.

Hank you allways have great advice! I pack an extra soft wash pump in the tool box (5850) but looking to add a back up pressure washer and surface cleaner.

Gene, great pics of the rig build! It's like crack to me ... can't get enough!!!!  Keep the pics and updates coming. Even though we are in the prime right now, I'm sure for many, we all look at the pics and think about how we can improve our rigs for next season.

After some trial and error with the compressor I was finally able to do some cleaning. Here are my first two roofs. These are our house and garage before during and afters20140527073852(1).jpg20140527073852(4).jpg20140527073852(2).jpg20140527083555(2).jpg20140527083555(1).jpg

Gene,

Congratulations. It looks as if you're on your way. If you haven't done so already when the opportunity presents itself get yourself some standoffs for those ladders. You can pick up some Werner quick units at Home depot or Lowers for $42.00 each. They make life easier, safer and reduces(eliminates) the strain on gutters.

Gene,

Love the motorhome in the picture. When was the last time that was moved. Back when I (54 years olds)was 23 years old I lived in a motorhome parked next to my aunt's house on Long Island(Smithtown). The longest 6 months of my life.

Gene,
You're off to a good start. I purchased my spray equipment at PressureTek as well. They are good people. As others have mentioned, keep spare components as well as the hand tools with you. I've had to make a couple of field repairs on the job site and thank goodness I had the parts and tools with me. Also make it a practice to flush the pump out with fresh water at the end of the time to extend it's life.

The only things I have from PressureTek are the 200' of 1/2" Kuritek yellow hose and the 4 banger nozzle. My Yamada pump works like a charm and I think next year I will go with a larger pump if I can get one for a good price. I do have to get a backup pump though.
I rinsed the pump out really well, I used it to rinse both roofs. I only have a 35 gallon rinse tank and I am thinking of installing a cistern filling valve to keep it full during rinsing. I ran out of water twice rinsing the roofs. I only used about 20 gallons of mix on both roofs to clean.

Gene,

Perhaps it's just me...but why are you rinsing the roofs?

Because 90% of the roofs here in NH dont have gutters and Ive seen RCIA what not rinsing a roof without gutters will do. The roofs with gutters I wont be rinsing. I can rinse the bottom 3rd or half and be fairly safe but I want to sleep at night. I rinsed my roofs and didnt kill a thing and I feel more comfortable with that. As I progress with experiance I might do otherwise.

Not really sure but it could be 91% biggrin

Heavy snow loads tends to rip them off and it depends on the shlub who puts them up.

We rinse every roof without gutters and sometime some itch gutters, that aren't attached good and drain between the gutter and fascia.

Fortunately nearly all roofs in my territory have roofs. I have cleaned only two roofs without gutters so far.
