How to undamage vinyl siding...

I have a customer who used Goo Gone to remove bird droppings from his siding. It left orange staining, probably because he did not rinse after applying the goo gone.  It has baked in the sun and left stains.

We stopped by to see if we could remove the stains, and nothing seemed to work

We used Absolute Chemical Citrus based Gutter Cleaner/ Housewash, nothing

               Awesome                                                                                  nothing

               Greased Lighting                                                                       nothing

                Oxygen Based Cleaner                                                             nothing

                 F9                                                                                             nothing

Replace the effected pieces of vinyl siding if that color and profile is still available.   Otherwise, swap the siding out from a place that is far less visible.

I would apply some 12.5% straight.

Then I would go to the other end of the PH scale and use a strong acid like STRAIGHT Hydrochloric (AKA Muriatic) or Hydrofluoric. With either of these products,..if they don't work on there own after applying,...put on rubber gloves and work at it with a Magic Eraser and see what that gets you.

Oxalic acid maybe? I had some orange staining spots appear on white vinyl siding once after we soft washed the house and sprayed a mixture of oxalic on the stains and they instantly disappeared. I'm not sure what they were from or why they appeared and it never happened again but the oxalic worked.

Barry there was most likely an exposed nail some where.

Steve if you can brush the side out then try sodium hydroxide. It should even the side out.

Two things work for me... One Restore and Winsol Deep Clean.

We just did a house that had pressure washer marks all over. My initial test was my favorite, One Restore. It did a fine job. I didn't have enough on hand but did have Deep Clean and was impressed with the results, as was the home owner. We sprayed it on with a back pack sprayer and brushed, when the house was finished we cleaned all the siding and metal as usual. I'll post pictures later when I get to the other computer.

Pictures added... the originals you can see the marks in the before pictures much better.

try a mix of 10% potassium Hydroxide...mixed thus: 25% PH to 75% water in a pump-up.

I've found that potassium hydroxide will do things that sodium hydroxide will not...they are kissing cousins but have unique applications.
