Well there was a debate recently about link sharing. And a couple of people who I highly respect, and I know they know their stuff were nice enough to alert me that that could be a negative thing to doin regards to SEO.

However I also realized that for at least two years I've had a link share a page on my website, it had about eight links on there to either organizations, like the NSWA, or friends websiteS. It hasn't hurt my rankings at all, I am consistently number 1-4 on Google in Tallahassee.

But back to the blog, I get busy and have a hard time remembering to update it consistently. During slow times I might go ahead and write up four or five entries and schedule them to be published at a later date. My question is if we blog other people's videoor websites, is that a bad thing or good thing?

If the links swap is set to 'follow' and if it's a trusted domain, it might be helpful.  If they're set to no-follow, then it does nothing for optimization purposes.

Re blogging other folks videos etc,  personally I wont publish ANYTHING that may potentially lead a would-be client AWAY from my website.  I want them to convert - each and every one of them.  But that's not SEO it's simply my thoughts on online marketing.

 Now that is some good advise Ted. You want to keep your prospect on your site. Never Never draw them away! That is one reason when we asked for a Back Link to NSWA. We said you could hide it in your site in a picture or what ever. We didn't want to hurt our members by drawing there client away from there site.

How about on NSWA...why is that when I click on a site, or link, it takes me to that site and I leave, NSW?. Shouldn't we it have set to open in a new window so I can get right back to NSWA??? Or is that the link setter responsiblilty?

 

art, you have a link in your sig...when I click on it it takes me away from NSWA to your sight...I am assuming you is the link setter that set that link there...no need to hire one..every member is a link setter

Doug, I hope this answers your question. When someone posts a link here (or in their signature) they have the option to open in this window or a new window which will keep NSWA open. If everyone were to use this feature when posting a link we would always have the NSWA page open. Since few use it I always right click on the link so I don't leave the page. Here is a shot of the page. Select Target and it gives two options.

 I use Mozilla, I wonder if that is the difference.

It might be IE. It works on my MacBook but not windows. 

I've always had problems withe forum using safari, Doug. Sometimes links work, sometime,they don't.....
