New build

I'm doing the build out this weekend to be ready for Monday's job. A standard PU truck just isn't enough for all we do and after seeing a few pictures of Eric's rig (Liberty Soft Wash) I had a few more ideas. I'll be mounting both hose reels on top of one of the side boxes and just have two tanks in the back.

208_view.jpg

I won't be using a "skid" at all. I'm going to devote one of the boxes to hold my residential pumps as well as my commercial RBP pump. I'll run it so that we can just hook a water line to the truck and be able to boost pressure or shoot a mix. I'll put two batteries in another box as well as an the off/on switches for all of the pumps.

I "stole" this truck........$6,000 with 66,000 miles. F-350 with a lift gate (need for my kids school stuff), rack included as well as a rear spot light and new tires. Everything else I found was near 200K miles or just too much money to turn over to employees......just need to wrap it with our signature green after the build.

I'm also implementing a daily "Safety Log" which will need to be filled out completely for every job to get the bonus we will be paying out. This way everything will be documented. From the pre-job walk around to the hose coiling. I figure it will add 10 minutes to each job but will ensure accountability.

I'm currently interviewing for a new sales person and my goal is to go after more commercial accounts as well. Residential is great and I love the people we deal with but commercial accounts are just better all the way around.

 No.....I'm selling Roof Shampoo......:}

The build is actually great but we are staying booked out 6 weeks so I just don't have time to get a wrap.
Also we were swamped and my garden hose reel pooped out so the truck is a mess for the pictures I took today.......

225_view.jpg226_view.jpg

229_view.jpg230_view.jpg

231_view.jpg227_view.jpg

I put my RBP pump and my 12 V pump in one of the compartments with separate valves to switch from mix to water.....works awesome.

In fact I just bought another RBP pump that is sitting on the floor beside me because this one is about 6 months old and that is about when they take a dive. Everything is set up to easily swap out on the go. My battery is in another compartment along with a charger because I have not had the time to hard-wire to the truck.

I have two 55 gallon drums near the cab. One for SH and one for my mix. I will be putting in another tank because sometimes we will shoot the roof and do a house wash at the same time but can't use the same mix.

Doug you should turn that truck into an Alum. Flat bed next winter. I think it would make a mint cleaning rig

http://www.atp4you.net/All-Aluminum-Flatbeds.html

Some times you can find them used on Craigs

Then I would need to add boxes.......that I already have. I was considering a flatbed and just adding over and under boxes. In the end I found this deal and could not pass on it. The liftgate has also been a great asset......just wish I had time to wrap it.

There isn't anything black mounted behind the RBP Pump.....just the valve assembly I built. To the side there are two black things. One is my 12V pump and the other is the accumulator for the 12v pump.

It really is pretty slick and easy to operate. Allows us to do residential and commercial....roof or house wash or anything else we want.

Check the connections, but also make sure your power source is enough. We have run into issues with old house and not enough amperage per circuit. I bought and inverter/generator for one my trucks and it works awesome. It is only the size of a igloo cooler and has plenty of power. No more surges.

That looks like a 14 gauge wire. You might want to change that out to 12 gauge. Also use all 12 gauge or better extension cords.

Andy, Are yo getting any flow at all or just a restricted flow?
One of the problems you may have, that could be very costly, is your valve assembly. Smart idea but wont hold up to the CH. If just one of the fittings is allowing air it could be the cause of your problems.

The costly part is if the RBP pump runs dry it will ruin it.

It does fine with water pressure but when pulling from tank it's powerful at first then quickly dies down. It's like it cant pull enough from the tank. Ill make sure valve on tank is clear

You just nailed the reason.....It works fine with water pressure because it is not "drawing" it is simply "boosting".
In order for it to draw it must have a sealed connection to the tank. Think of it this way....stick a straw into a cup and suck the water in. Works great.......now put a hole in the straw.......

It seems some thing was also restricting the valve leaving the tank. I will change my plumbing to a more permanent fitting. Thanks everyboby for great suggestions.

Does the RBP have a little bleed screw or priming screw .they usualy have a o ring on them that allows air in. The pump runs and the mix just bubbles in hose . a changed my plastic prime screws out for metal bolts with dowdy washers .works a treat now .a dont prime the pump that way now .a use the out feed just pour it in there and push hose on .to output on pump .

The RBP pump does not have a bleed screw.
